Re: gpu 220

Is most going out the breather vent? My I suggest a air oil separator to " recycle " the oil going out the vent? They do cut the bleeding down considerably. Also when topping the cylinders make sure to switch to 4 ring Pistons you will then have a "dry" engine?

Re: O-540 mags have no kill switch wires

See those holes in the small cap on the mag? Those are where "p" leads with special terminals are inserted and threaded on to the cap. If the part number of your magnetos designates the left magneto as a shower of sparks mag it will need two leads , one for the "l p"lead the othe...

Another question, what gasket dos you use on the bowl, Holey one or new one without venting holes?
Does the bowl have the idle cutoff in bowl or lever in the top?

Re: MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

What did you use for the economizer settings and pin part number. A fuel psi gauge would be helpful to trouble shoot this problem. Also a j tube in the bowl would show fuel level as it was running .

Re: Oil drippage

I would first do a leak down of the cylinders, if the compressions are really good , like 77-79 over 80 and the inside of the combustion chamber is covered in oil ring glazing may be the problem. What type of bore does the cylinders have? Chrome ( harder to break in) Nickle ( breaks in easily) steel...

Re: Oil drippage

Cylinders are glazed over , or the intake has warm oil ( to prevent carburetor ice) going through the housing that the carburetor is mounted to may have a pin hole and is sucking oil from there into the intake system.

After surveying the engine installation it was discovered that the original builder installed oil filter in the oil cooler line . For those of you unfamiliar with a sandca...
