Re: New Deck for an Old Boat

If anyone has pictures of his new hulls/there boats that would be great as well. I am aware of his history with Thurman but did not realize he had been building boats that long. Thanks for the info.

New Deck for an Old Boat

I have an old Taylor that needs a new deck. It is a 10ft full deck. Need some suggestions of who would be the best builder for the job. My uncle is also looking to replace his worn out Thurman so someone who could do a deck for me and a new hull for him would be great. I hear good things about Benny...

My guess was aquatic farming of some sort or an area for duck population counts. Keep the info coming maybe someone can solve the mystery.

Strange Objects Area 2A

Does anyone know what the big square areas with the L shaped docks are? I was getting some coordinates from google maps and noticed them. Just curious if anyone has any info about them.

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

Why? I like to cut one mag to slow down in certain situations to prevent bumping into people with fancy paint jobs or coming in too hot to the dock. Its nice to be able to give some added courtesy to people who own show boats or anyone who has some money in their paint job. I have a 70's 10 ft tayl...

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

BoatAir,

We have a pond camp and its nice to be able to slow the boat down by cutting off one mag as you come into the dock. It also comes in handy in the canal when the wind is blowing or there is limited parking due to large groups of boats.

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

Does anyone have an electronic ignition system that allows half of the coils to be shut down similar to turning one mag off to reduce power? That is one feature that would be nice to keep once the switch is made.

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

I wonder if the vents in a mag could be sealed without tearing something up or affecting the performance on a boat. When I exchanged my old mags I noticed the vents on the new ones had been sealed with epoxy resin. I went ahead and sealed all the other casing breaks with silicone so they ...

recently installed it on my 0-320. have been running it on my GO-480 about 5 years with no issues at all. i use the xdi system from abner , he has a great plug and play system. I will have to check into that system it looks like a nice setup from what images I have found. The xdi system looks like ...

Re: Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

Are you considering some kind of adaptation of an automotive system or converting to an aviation system? I am not familiar with the Pacemaker name. As far as gremlins in the mags. If you have gremlins then I have to say your mags are not being maintained as intended by the manufacturer. I was consi...

Electronic Ignitions? Opinions....

I am thinking of changing from mags to an electronic system. I have an 0-320 and have become frustrated with the gremlins that seem to live in mags. I have a set of mags that is only two years old and they are already becoming a headache :banghead: . I have a friend who has a 0-720 running a pacemak...

That's terrible! I have been in that situation but luckily I was able to macgyver a rudder stick out of a paddle and some other spare parts but that could have easily gone south in a hurry as well. Hope he recovers quickly and avoids any infection.

Re: Pacemaker ignition system

My friend has a pacemaker system on his 0-720. After years of mag problems and the boat only running right a few trips out of the year he replaced the mags with a pacemaker. The setup has been on the boat for almost 2 years and it has never run better. I have a 0-360 and if it was not for just putti...

Re: What's the good and bad on stainless bottom vs poly

Stainless is very durable and will last longer than the boat itself in most cases. The major problem with stainless is galvanic corrosion. Most people use an epoxy barrier coat to protect the hull from corrosion. If you have run poly you know how labor intensive it is to change or install, stainless...

Yeah we drive by it heading to our camp. Your right about the driveway being a little tricky. I remember some of the old timers getting hung up in there. Not sure if it was the trees or the wild turkey but either way it was entertaining.

Water Levels 3a

Has anyone been out on the Reservation lately launching south I75 off L28? Sounds like the water is getting low early this year. Just want to see if anyone has any info about current conditions. Thanks
