Re: Boat Engine airboat

A buddy of mine has that set up for when he goes to Alaska to hunt. He has a little 4 stroke outboard so he can run fuel from the same tank. Goes more than a hundred miles up a river and up there..... no place to buy fuel. Mike trailers it up there and stays for months..... puts fuel in 55 drums and...

Re: Gpu 220 to 470 pistons?

If you convert the cylinders to 0470 Angle Valve, you don't have to cut the case. For 520 cylinders you would have to cut the case. If you change the jugs you will need new headers, valve covers, rockers, rocker shims, push rod tubes, Rocker Shafts, intake manifolds, and a cross over for the back si...

Tom

I have a #6 Easy out if you need it. I will bring it to Hernando. Soak it... Don't let water get down in the hole.

Re: 220 mechanical fuel pump

You can get a new GPU pump from Decurra. They are listed in the links on the top of the page.

More expensive than the dodge but a direct replacement! I think it was about 75 bucks and I put it on about 5 years ago. Works great

Good Luck

Google Atwood 90 degree p trap fuel tank vent. They work and are cheap.

As said, ensure running does not splash your vent.

Re: drying blades out

2 blade propellers should be stored so they are at the 9 o'clock and the 3 o'clock position even if they are composite blades. A blade sitting at the 6 o'clock position will gain weight & water. 3 & 4 blade are harder, but avoid th 6 o'clock as much as possible

Re: Need help GSO 480 oil issues

Do you have an I infared gun to cross check the gauge? They are not that much money. I keep one in my boat bag. Shoot the heads and the oil pan .....on my a/c (520) the heads stay below 400 degrees Unless I am flogging it...... 500 and its game over. Oil temp is usually 200 or below But that's mine....

Remember

Unless if you use a gear box your prop rotation will change and your prop won't work.
Belt drive and you could use the same rotation prop.

Good luck

The public ramp is behind the Ace Hardware in Hernando. Best place to launch. It is near the 41 & 200 split. You probably want locals to show you around. Over 200 miles Of shoreline on the chain and thousands of acres. Don't tell any body what a great place It is to ride. Water is high out there...

Re: no oil pressure on 470

You might try pulling your oil sender and putting in a mechanical gauge to be sure you have lost pressure. If you have try re-priming the oil pump by forcing 50 weight A/C oil backwards into the oil sender hole. I used a 1/8 pipe with a 1/4 barb... A short piece of fuel line and an old style oil can...

MA4-5 Carb Accelerator Pump Plunger

Does any body know of a replacement leather for a MA4-5 Marvel style carb acceleration plunger?

Any one tried a Rochester boot in there? Did it work?
Do you have a part#.

Looks like $100.00 from the usual A/C parts houses?

I guess I am cheap........

Re: Headers glowing red

Could be you don't have enough cam. Check everything out carb and main jets, secondaries are they opening.... Intake leak? Timing as said... Is it stock or was it built. My 372 ran lean till I put enough cam in it. If it's all stock.... It's not the cam.

Good luck

Is it possible to use any longer bolts ? If not a mechanical lock like the lock washers mentioned is another possibility.

I can tell you if a bolt comes out and goes through your prop, you will not like the result!

Re: 0320 not starting in cold weather

Aircraft engines start best when you spin them over then hit the gas pedal while cranking.

Seen lots of people hit the pedal with engine not turning, then try to start it.

It atomizes best when you spray fuel in the air flow.

Do you see fuel squirt when you hit the throttle?

Good luck

Re: no oil pressure on 470 11B. Bird dog engine

I pulled my oil gauge sender, put in a 1/8 pipe thread to barb fitting then put a little hose on it and used a little pump oil can to force it in the oil galley. It only took about a cup of oil to re prime it. Pull you plugs and squirt oil in the cylinders if you have run it. You may also want to ru...

Are you running 50 weight aircraft oil? Does your oil look milky color You might be blowing out steam from condensation Does your oil fill cap have moisture on it when you look at the back side after idle? How much oil are you putting in? I usually put in 9 quarts at oil change I only use 1 quart ev...
