Re: Rudder Coated with Bed Liner

Another thought, the demples in a golf ball reduces drag and allows the ball to travel futher, could the bed liner have the same effect on a rudder?

Re: High School Airboat Build II

A lot of people here run the carter with good results but like anything mechanical they can fail. I've been running them for many years and have bought several to replace the ones that failed. Better that it happened now than on the water.

Re: High School Airboat Build II

Run a jumper wire directly from the battery to the pump and run the engine, (be sure your ground is good also), if it still cuts out you have a bad pump. Even new pumps will sometimes fail. If the engine runs without cutting off then you should look for bad power connections. I would also check the ...

Re: High School Airboat Build II

Can anyone give us some quick information on the rudder tabs, as you can see they are two different rudders. One tab in the middle and one tab down lower, these tabs used for stabilizing the rudders to relieving torque, right???? Can we just take them off or should we take one off and match it to t...

They are there just very skittish right now because of the bright moon. You might want to wait a week or so when it ain't so bright, then ya'll should be able to bag your limit. It's been quite a few years sense I first took my boys for their first snipe hunt and I can tell you it's something they'l...

Re: Any Boat Builders Interested?

Well said Waterbugger, I can think of several people right here on S.A. who have had, (or is trying to have), a boat built in just the last year or so who wish they had had a well written contract with penalties for not meeting a completion date or specific specifications for the build. It would be ...

Re: Ecotec engine

What size engine are you looking for? I have a complete saturn view with a 2.2 I'd make you a good deal on. I don't recall the year but the engine is in good shape. The transmission went out on it but everything is there. I was going to use it in a airboat but I found a good deal on a ecotec AB alre...

Re: Battery Drain

My system stared draining the batteries when the battery switch is left on. I am open to suggestions. My thought is to take out one thing at a time until I find the system that shorted? I start with all the plugs for spot lights. Disconnect the wires from your alternator and let it sit for the leng...

Re: Mean little 4 cyl.

If a man wanted to build a bad ass little 4 cylinder, what combination could you come up? Is it just a stock wide deck o360, or some Frankenstein Cont. with GITSO cylinders? Not a race motor, something that could be reliable. Why don't you just move up to a 450 HP Ecotec? :stirpot: :rebel: :florida...

Re: Who builds fuel tanks for a decent price in central Flor

Thanks for all the great leads, I'll be making some calls tomorrow for quotes. kwanjangnihm, Bestfabs website says they can build them out of stainless and I like that but I'll have to see how that compares to aluminum price wise. They also appear to be a large company and may not be interested in m...

Who builds fuel tanks for a decent price in central Florida

I'm working on a sled project and need someone to build a fuel tank. Tank size is 28 in. x 24 in. x 7 in high with the normal filler neck, sending unit, line and vent connections. Would also like a 1 in. x 3 in. sump / water trap in the bottom directly under the filler neck. Looking for someone in t...

Re: WCA 2A Open Squares on Aerials

Researchers have recently created two more just off the Townsend trail to the east and south of the East-West trail. Essentially what they do is they choose an area and create a fire break by running the outside edges with their airboats. They then set fire to the area and burn out the interior. Af...

Re: WCA 2A Open Squares on Aerials

Stay clear of those areas, they are top secret military missile sites . Airboats that go into those areas seldom come out and the ones who do never talk about what happened to them while they were unaccounted for. Use extreme caution ! Gerald, (newoldglory on SA), has been known to slip into these a...

Re: Lifting Engine 2.5-3 inches

My first thought was will the engine handle more prop? Before you start rebuilding the rigging there are other options to consider. What prop are you considering? The difference between 66 and 68 is only 2 inches. A lot of composit props can be cut down 1 inch on each blade without causing a problem...
