Re: how low can the end of prop be in the boat and still be ok

Not sure why you would say that, but I will agree, and also say that I hope and pray that it is not either. :) may be my last year of air boating not much traffic on the river I run on and at my age it is some times a log walk if I would have engine problems I even bought a new carburetor for that ...

Re: how low can the end of prop be in the boat and still be ok

Ok Deano
I'll go 4-1/2 in the boat
it has always been an easy roller and that should help
I am pulling the engine to put in a few helicoils in some pan gasket bolts holes and 0-rings in the oil return tubes
and it just seems like a good chance to drop it
may be my last year but hope not

Re: lower shrouds on corvair engine

baffles.jpg Never ran a Corvair engine on an airboat, but after seeing the dramatic results attained on A/C engines by running proper shrouding, it seems hard to imagine that any air cooled engine would not benefit from using them. I don't know that the way the originals were configured would be op...

I have never had them on my motor but the guys on the corvair forums say I should be

I'm not sure what you are looking for exactly, but I worked at a semi trailer company for over 30 years, maybe a hat post or a roof bow will work for you the welder here in town had some scraps and he sold me some 1/8" thick and bent it for me wasn't cheap but was what I needed for moer streng...

http://www.OnlineMetals.com may be an option if they ship from anywhere near you. Sometimes their pricing is not bad, but depending on what you are after, the shipping can quickly change that. That is where I have been talking to a guy but they don't have what I need I think I will go to a semi tra...

Re: corvair

The tuning should help, if you can find a dwell meter, that would be a handy tool for getting it dialed in perfectly, not too sure on where the timing should be set for best performance without detonation though, I will ask my cousin who ran Vairs for many years. The timing by the book is 14% btdc ...

Re: corvair

I wouldn't move right on to adjusting weight, thrust angle or any of that until AFTER I got beyond the carb problem. Chances are good that such adjustments will need to be redone or undone after the engine is running properly. Thanks for that advice I am doing a complete tune up on that motor I did...

Re: carbon fiber prop for corvair
