Re: Airboat or Surface drive?

I fish that area as well and anything with a prop is no fun, lots of big nasty sharp rock. I see guys poling, trolling motoring or dragging boats as I just wave a slide by. South to yankeetown is not so bad but north to cedar key is nasty and very rough on a boat. If you ran a surface-drive you woul...

Re: 383 stroker with a edlebrock750 carb issues

Your carb uses springs on the metering rod which has basically 2 positions. When the vacuum is greater than the spring (say at cruise). the metering rod stays down, when you hit the throttle the vacuum drop the metering rod moves up and allows more fuel. The lighter spring will allow the metering ro...

Re: List of people & places who can do an overhaul

I would do some research before you have anyone work on your motor. My buddy used the person listed above and it has not turned out well for my buddy. Maybe the guy had good intentions but my buddy has been left with a very expensive pile of parts. So again do some research make sure you what your g...

Re: Fuel regulator mount

My regulator is on the highest point of the engine stand and I have 27" of AN8 line to the Carb. Pressure gauge is just before line splits at the carb.

It works fine no issue with pressure but I only run a stock 5.3 with a 750 holley

Re: Prop speed RPM

Just my 2 cents. Has more to do with tip speed than prop RPM. To put the tip speed around 500mph which seems to be a good spot for R blades and other med width props 2.68 with a 79" prop takes 5700 motor rpm to be at the 500mph mark 2.55 " 5400 " 2.37 " 5050 " 2.68 with a 82...

Re: Panther Torque Box Issues

Have you checked the flexplate for cracks and are you running a dowel in the crank to flexplate? Buddy had a stringer ( I know not the same box ) that made all kinds of noise, sent it back with no issues. They asked about crank dowel he installed and the issue went away. Another buddy had a 1st Gen ...

Re: Expansion Tank ?

I personally never ran one on my caddy never had a problem. If I filled it all the way, it would blow off a little water the 1st time I ran it then stay at that level. I also ran a dual pass radiator and the proper restrictor. Motor ran 160 maybe 170 when running hard. If you look back in smugger's ...

On my caddy I made a bracket to mount the High Vibration coil on the head by the Dist and mounted the box in a tray under the seat ran it like that for five years before I sold it. Supposedly the Board is Potted and the box is sealed, Why not add a little insurance. When I got the 5.3 motor I am run...

Re: Cage wire

Go to a drywall supply and get 9 or 11ga galv. hanger wire. It is cheap. Can make it any size you like.
Can use very small zip ties to hold it in place for layout and welding.
That is the way a built my 1st 2 cages before going stainless.

Re: Ideal hull shape to not hop or plow?

Before I did anything I would check the bottom with a straight edge or string line. I notice the bolts on the side If you're running poly make sure it does not have any issue. Mine started hopping on the way back to the ramp, after looking I found a 1' long cut in mine at a slight angle. Many hull e...

Deano sounds, more like the norm when it comes to performance caddy stuff. Always some kind of issue. Every part I bought seem to need some kind of modification to work correctly. That I why I moved on to the LS platform. Love a Caddy but will never go back. Can Almost buy a junkyard 6.0 for what th...

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

If you have sq port heads just use the GM blower set-up. If you don't have the sq port heads get a set of LS3 heads and then blower. Can be done fairly reasonable.

Re: fuel injection pump

I have used the Walbro GSL392BX 255lph external pump. Seems to work well so far. If you use a stock intake with stock regulator mounted on the intake or use corvette filter with internal regulator if your intake does not have the fuel pressure regulator. Then there is always aftermarket Fuel pressur...
