Re: What prop, reduction to go with

Nice torque curve. If you want max push, I would roll with 82+" 3 x wide blades. I am partial to Maximus blades personally. With your peal comming in 58xx, a 2.5 to 2.7 ratio would be a good choice. Ox Drive is my personal choice for reductions. If you want a compromise of push and speed, same ...

Re: Ban Bear Hunts for 10 years!!

What i always find amazing is, its always people that do not enjoy a thing that try to regulate a thing from others that do. Do you see people that live "in the country" trying to tell people that "live in the city" what they can and cant do? This is always a one way road; why is...

Re: Gardner Marsh Water??

Nice video with the kids!

However, i couldnt find where you were in the marsh? Just saw the edge of the lake and a pavillion.

Would like to know if theres any moisture in the marsh right now. Everyone says its bone dry. Fun to do the dry marsh occasionally but it sure eats up the fuel!

Re: Ecotec motors

You want the 2.0 Turbo engine family. LNF, LHU or LTG. LTG is newest and easiest to set up with off the shelf part. You will have 300 to 330 hp depending on a bunch of little variables with the totally stock engine and a good tune. They are not the easiest setups to get working because they are stil...

Re: This Saturday - LIGHT IT UP BLUE !!

Was a really good turnout for this event and the organizers and support people made for a real nice afternoon with the raffle and food. Nice work! I had hoped to get some footage of the light show, but I had a long way to run back to the Cypress ramp so I had to leave a little early. Here's some 360...

If you choose to ignore certain questions, dont be surprised if you miss a few important factors in your design.

Good luck to you.

I navigate in 10 foot water depth minimum.

If water depth is minimum 10ft / 3M, why do you want to use an airboat?

Re: Who builds a nice galvanized trailer

I see, perhaps a stainless trailer might work as a somewhat expensive option if galvanized route doesnt pan out for you. Can also try wrapping the areas that get sand blasted with a projective 3m film. Film gives a little on impact and doesnt abrade away as easily due to soaking up impact energy. Oh...

Re: Who builds a nice galvanized trailer

Why not just a regular steel trailer? Mine is 20 years old at least and its just primed and painted. If you arent soaking the trailer in salt water, shouldnt need galvanized metal in order to last if the steel is primed and painted properly. Just a thought. Galvanized will certainly last longer, no ...

Re: fire at 3 forks at Malabar

They were lighting fires with the helicopter. I saw it in action personally. The man i was talking to on the ground said they were "burning out blocks" to keep the fire from spreading uncontrollably. I asked how it got started and he said somewhere along the river it was set off. Just repo...

All good. Sounds like it wasnt a small mouth if noone else has ever landed one in this area.

I need to spend more time fishing fresh water.

Re: Rode the Grass today

Definitely some nasty spots out there right now. Rode some on Friday and a couple of them green patches put the bow eyelet nearly into the dirt. Need to put some slick bottom / poly on the bottom of the grass rake! Perhaps not quite so bad as that, :toothy7: , but when the transom is 12 inch...

Re: bass fishing

Well, i am mostly a salt water person when it comes to fishing. The Bass had a smaller mouth than the typical large mouth and there is a small mouth bass species so, whatever it was, it was eating up the lure.

Feel free to beat up the guy trying to help someone out!

I ran out by the fire today. It was moving north. Lots of fire rescue teams out there with helicopter and other vehicles. I launched out of stick marsh. Cant tell you if malabar is open or not. Sweet water is probably next closest ramp? Fish were biting. Cant help but catch as long as you keep your ...

Without the efforts of people like you, we all would be far worse off and our kids much less likely to enjoy the "real" Florida as we do today. Even if what we have today pales to what we had in the past.

A sincere Thank You.

Re: EcoTec Bad news/Goods news story

Yes, I set the oil temp parameters myself using HP Tuners. You most likely have a Trifecta tune in yours. You cant modify that yourself as they lock the file and force you to pay them more $ every time you want to make a change. You would need a new ECU and a new tune via HP Tuners, or pay Trifecta ...

Definitely one of the major points to consider when deciding what power plant to use. First time around the ecotec is potentially not much cheaper than a conventional build. Second time around though when sht happens, way less $ pain! Glad to hear you got back in safe and back on the water without b...

Re: Alcohol motor

Well, I guess this is one thing the little ecoturd does well and very user friendly. Stock fuel system can run anything from 0 to 100% alcohol in any % gas/alcohol mix. It automagically changes the pulse width and fuel pressure based on what % it detects in the fuel, on the fly. Can leave the dock w...

Re: Levitator 496 425-450hp

Makes sense, your truck engine has a recommended octane of 89. Running 87 would likely cause some light detonation / preignition and cause the ecm to pull timming. Pump gas all contains similar levels of ethanol though. My vehciles have factory fuel composition sensors in them and 93 always comes in...

Re: Building an airboat around an engine

Also, I think using hp as primary input for designing is wrong Well, to be quite honest, power is the important factor, not torque, when designing a complete system. Do not get fooled into thinking a low RPM / high torque engine will produce more thrust than a high RPM / low torque engine. 200hp = ...
