Re: Difference between direct drive and reduction gear?

I agree with buy what u want to start with.. gear box isnt hard to add though. Just extend engine stand out to it.. if u go belt drive u will still spin prop to the left as looking from back of boat, which is what direct drives spin. The prop on the direct drive would not be enough either way. Gear...

Re: 500 Caddy Direct Drive Prop Pitch Setting

Glad to hear it was only your 'proverbial' clutch that was slipping . . . mine does the same thing from time to time. :D One of these days if I get beyond being such a CSOB, I might just get me a real clutch and some little wheels on my lifters. That's funny! May I recommend a drive for your ...

WOW, 4 days and not one post! Yep caddies are dying fast! Couple things I won't even go into but I'm sure you'll get the extent from future posters that don't answer your question! It does not matter what size or how many blades your turning at this point! It does highly matter for you and all aroun...

Re: Painterchic bought an Engine... now I need help!!!!

Full tank was because I didn't know how much fuel my tank would actually hold, it's called 40 gallon tank, but my math on it only had it holding 36 gallons at the most. I needed a way to judge how much fuel I would be going through later on when I went to put fuel back in it. Starting with an empty...

Re: Painterchic bought an Engine... now I need help!!!!

PC or Tonya? That's not the rigging I helped you drag back from lake whales? If you you need a hand tweaking it at bayport, I'll try but I've never tried tweaking a boat with seats that high on a 12 laser hull. Dam your center of gravity is beyond belief but should make a good night gig rig! If tha...

Re: Reputable tilt trailer manufacturers

Missfire, It never hurts to check around! I can vouch for Chis's work and Cliff's work as top notch! Custom Airboat trailers and B&S trailers respectively! I have also heard that Dakota builds a nice trailer but I've honestly never seen one in action! I thought I knew your goal but if you live 2...

Re: Reputable tilt trailer manufacturers

Misfire, I know exactly what your talking about and a good thought, BUTT?? there's always a butt! Both builders above make a fine hauler "but" may not understand the longevity factor of the need or use? I would highly recommend some bronze insert bushings in the tilt mechanism. Most tilt's...

Re: Gearbox talk

James, A few things to consider and most disregard this? The gear is an option and so is the PROP! The magic formula to size or weight of hull or load cannot be defined. Most just estimate from advice and are happy with it? That's Okay but fine tunning a boat could get into serious money for optimal...

James,
No pics but I run a "one" 36 curve body housing in the center with 6 floods on each end and "two" twelve inch consisting of 4 floods on each side off center of the cage with spots in the middle of all of them. It's a SAR boat but the R stands for Recovery.

Re: Any Boat Builders Interested?

Hire a "GOOD" Lawyer to bid on government work especially FWC. I highly doubt any boat builder has the resources like GM or Ford or Dodge and FWC is Known to follow the letter of the law regardless including bids for products or services! Funny a bid for 3 airboats has made it all the way ...

Patty has some good questions un-answered? I would offer my 3 blade 71 inch sabers if you could deal with something only I can describe as cat scratch fever from a prop. Dam annoying anywhere near the 2k range and ear popping at 3k.

Consider yourself lucky I know off a ton and have heard some horror stories. The worst crate motor I have heard of so far is the LS3 carb motor I know of 5 or 6 that popped all in under 20hr's some as low as under 10hrs. As for GM 572 I know of three that didnt make it a day. I goes the same or the...
