Re: Long Journey

It's back! About the only outward change you will see is the head studs. All the rest of the goodies are inside. Won't be long now!

You need to be there for your son. We can always party later; events like that only happen once.

2A is stupid dry. I imagine 3B can't be far behind. We better get some rain soon!

I've seen it happen to AC boats going down the highway; same thing, about a 1/4 turn every so often.

Salvage Engines

I would imagine most, if not all, aircraft engines on airboats find their way to the airboat world because they are no longer economically feasible to re-certify to FAA specs. Is it worth the effort to convert an engine for airboat use on your own? Obviously certain items will need to be removed and...

Engine List

Has anybody ever compiled a list of Lycoming motors that are more favorable than others? Models to stay away from? Thanks.

1. Sell the Thurman 2. Sell the Barge 3. Enjoy the Don Davis :toothy7: one money pit is enough - 3 is insane - but you are diggin :stirpot: That is true. All but certain I'll be selling the Barge once I'm done building my camp. It's gotten to the point that it's just the wife and me 95% of th...

Built SV or Stock AV?

I've been so busy at work I haven't been able to get to work on my Thurman. I keep going back and forth between taking the SV off my sled and putting the 320 back on it but the Don Davis is such a killer boat with that SV and just a decent little frog boat with the H2AD. I haven't decided to sell or...

Re: New Boat got motor ???

You could get away with an LS for the performance you say you're looking for but generally speaking, a boat that size needs big power. A good source of big block power is GTO/MAS. For less than you would pay for the Levitator you can get an all-forged, purpose-built BBC. And that leads me into my ne...

Re: Riding in South Florida

As far as riding off of 41, most people put in at the microwave tower just past the village, at the bend. Beautiful riding in that part of 3A. You can also head to 2A for a change of pace. Just put in at Sawgrass Recreation off 27 or at the Stub Canal 3 miles further up the road. Good riding, mostly...

Re: Gardner Marsh Water??

I rode KCOL last Saturday. Went as far as Square Pond and that was dry virtually the whole way. Looked like there was water from Square Pond heading up toward Hole In The Wall. Saw a number of boats head that direction but pretty tough running just to get to Square Pond.

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

For what it's worth, the LSA uses 9.5:1 pistons and the blower makes about 9 lbs boost in stock form. Of course, it has all kinds of sensors to safeguard against detonation as well as an air-to-water intercooler. When I ordered the parts for my build, I stayed with 9.5:1 Diamond Racing forged piston...

Re: Long Journey

What damage did the defective coil pack cause? Because the coil pack was not firing, unburned fuel washed the cylinder walls and allowed the piston to score the walls. I discovered the issue by pure happenstance. I had an issue with header bolts snapping and pulled the header to see if the flange w...

Long Journey

Wow. I've been without my DB for a year now. Long story short, the problem with my engine started because of a defective coil pack. The best they can tell it was bad pretty much from day one and that's what caused the damage. To compound matters, the engine arrived at the distributor in the Baton Ro...

Re: Looking for some reviews on the new alpha prop

I ran a 72" 6 blade Saber on my 11 foot sled with a SV540. Even with 10:1 pistons and a cam, it was a bit too much prop. I've got a 72" 5 blade prop now and very happy with it. I would imagine the Alpha is probably very much like an Excalibur, which I had and loved but was not compatible w...

Give me some advice bc a lot of ppl told me 3 blade R was way to go. Thanks The research I've seen shows that diameter rather than pitch or brand makes a ...
