Re: Fuel regulator mount

A carburetor on a high performance engine will work well in the 5-7 psi range.

If your pump can deliver the volume then the pressure really becomes secondary.

QuickFuel says 6.5psi is optimum

Re: DD Caddy?

You want to run a pvc system.

Use a under draw breather on one side and a pvc on the other this vents the crankcase properly.

Re: Fuel regulator mount

The concept of mounting the regulator close to the carburetor is to ensure that the pressure desired is not decreased by a long length of run or bends in the line after the regulator. This thought process comes from the fact many installers utilize a port on the regulator to mount the pressure gauge...

Let us not discount the "BUTT SCOOCH" that is being utilized in concert with the "TWO HAND RUDDER SCHUFFLE"!

It's either some sticky mud or to much TACO BUS....lol

Gonna be hard to beat a BIG INCH engine for a 20ft boat with 6 plus persons.
.
I would be looking at a 540+ cubic inch big block engine personally not an LS platform.

Re: Fuel regulator mount

I run a 3/8 steel line for nearly all of my system. Blu and I have no love of the modern rubber fuel lines and try to keep any rubber to a minimum. From seeing fuel degrade in the line in days to Marine approved membrane type line implode on the suction side it just breeds problems. If you can avoid...

Re: Boat insurance.

Everyone has an opinion and hell the legal advisors don't agree on the best way to protect from liability. Bottom line is like anything there is no free lunch. Put your boat in a S or C or LLC Corporation is great until the plaintiff brings suit against you as an individual. That said if you have a ...

Re: Fuel regulator mount

What matters more than where you put your regulator is that you are getting the desired pressure to the carburetor or FI unit.

Regardless of regulator position be sure to have a high quality inline gauge to monitor and verify pressure both at idle and under load. I use a liquid filled unit.

If it is over sized it may require you to ad some bracing to reduce the force and harmonics it is exposed to.

Re: Prop speed RPM

5300rpm / 2.37 = 2236 rpm at prop

5400rpm / 2.37 = 2278 rpm at prop

Clearly that puts you in the props prime performance range

Re: Is there a formula for running dry?

Hull shape, weight and friction equation are all very relevant with running dry but in the end horsepower to weight ratio is the most critical to success.

Re: Sensenich J series prop

With those S blades the engineers got it right! They push through the entire range if you have the power to spin them. That said, it's hard to improve on a product that is already excellent. Proto I run with a guy who has a some what similar build and ratio to mine. He has WaterWalker Maximus blades...

But were afraid to ask..... Swamp!

Short version is a chemical and vibratory process that makes the metal as smooth as could be with less or no imperfections.

If you get over this way I can find you a few level open areas. What is your run time / range?

Re: Panther Torque Box Issues

My limited knowledge on the Torque drive is they were made with two different styles of gears. A straight cut REM were the original Gen 1 design and they then produced Torque drives with Gen 2 helical cut gears much like the elite OX Box. Do you know what gears are in the drive you are dissatisfied ...

We are seeing about a 1/4 inch a day drop in water level due to evaporation, so I know exactly what your talking about with the return trip being a lot harder run Turtleman.

Took the Wizard himself out for a short slide yesterday, he and Mrs. Branch drove up to see my camp.
