Re: New to airboats and want to buy a used one

You should be able to find a very nice boat package in the 20k to 30k range with little effort.

Re: new hull and who to use

The Alaska crew get hulls from Alumitec maybe work something out thru Skip Olsen to meet up along his travel path and compensate him for hauling your hull....just a thought

Re: New Boat got motor ???

Cadillac Performance (Mr Branch) gives a 2 year written warranty as well. Not many builders do that for an airboat engine.

Blackwater have you run that MAS FI 540 yet ?

Re: New Boat got motor ???

Like Diggin has said a high quality purpose built engine is worth the extra money you pay. On any big and heavy boat a large displacement engine is the prudent choice. Reach out to the Blackwater family they run MAS big blocks and have had excellent results. Just because you think that running dry i...

Re: New Boat got motor ???

Big boat equals Big inch engine and gear drive power if you want to find happiness!

I have a sweet 520 roller Cadillac ready to go if you have coin.

Designed to mate a 2.37 - 2.68 drive to spin 4 S or R blades

Yes

No real need to stud an 8.5:1 in my opinion that was what I was trying to relay.

Re: MTS VT59 Shaft Rocker System with ARP Studs Clearance Issue

I would use head bolts in a 8.5 ratio build and make life easy. Just be looking for the next possible problem of push rod contact and is there any clearance issue to the bolt heads by the rocker shaft base. I highly doubt any issue with the base but at least be looking ahead. The push rods can not t...

Re: MTS VT59 Shaft Rocker System with ARP Studs Clearance Issue

None of the high performance upgrades are simple or easy. Per Mr Branch: In regard to the studs, some early production blocks are drilled shallow. Some mid generation blocks are not fully threaded and you end up a few threads short. The late model striation block usually is not an issue....Deano :st...

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

Making the assumption that your build sheet is accurate, a 4 pound boost put to a true 10.0 to 1 engine will yield a boosted compression ratio of 12.7 to 1 @ 40ft above sea level.

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

Jeep how did the 10:1 ratio get calculated? The reason why I ask is many times a projected or advertised compression can be .5 / half a point below which in this case would benefit your interest in forced induction. We have seen this process actually go both ways however. An older block that had bee...

I ran NGQs on a big (16ft) DD car motor boat and they pushed dry very well. It would be a great comparison if you two could swap blades for a day and test.

Heads are on and next step will be measuring up for some push rods. Went with a different shaft system than shown in pics, needed a slightly less aggressive ratio. The new Edelbrock intake is being dropped off tomorrow for surface milling. It seems that every one of these that I end up with need to ...

They typically are the standard 4150 series pattern.

If you have a local speed shop in your area stop in they may have one on the shelf and you can look it over.

Re: Throttle cable ???

What Deano posted is an excellent way to mount a throttle cable on a high rise intake.

Al and i have made fabricated stand alone cable holders and recently discussed these as a simple remedy to fabrication of custom height components.
