Re: MSD box mounting???

I have found out the msd box does not have to be to close to the engine so now more concerned about the coil mount. Anyone mount the coil off the back of the engine?

Re: Pertronix Distributer Problems

The pins break all the time in airboats. I'm new to this stuff so I'm probably wrong lol. I'm not saying it can't be something else but I've seen to many times people just drop the distributor in and never check for clearance. If the gear doesn't have enough clearance it will push down on the oil p...

Re: What prop, reduction to go with

I can tell you that if you go with anything over a 2.5 on a boat as big as yours you will definitely be unhappy. The big boats don't like big ratios. With your HP and torque I would go with a 2.5 ratio. I've played with many ratios on the same hull with 3 different motors. My 383 liked the 2.3 with...

Re: What prop, reduction to go with

If your considering S or SuperWide blades on a 2.68 with 500 to 530 ft lbs torque I'm thinking a 3 blade set up. I am thinking turn it to 5300-5400 2.68 4 blade for that heavy of a boat don't you think the three blade is only going to give snap to the rpm but much less push? Just from what I have s...

You need to find out why there is something wrong.

Re: Ban Bear Hunts for 10 years!!

I got tired of reading all the bull sh-t above. My take is if you don't like to hunt that's fine. But because you don't hunt don't mean I shouldn't hunt. Hunting is also a form of game management. Most of these people who are anti hunting complain cause they think we can just walk out into the wood...

I will try and get a inside picture they are built with baffles in them.

I run a generic stainless turbo and they are awesome but in the salt the welds and low grade stainless do not last forever.

I think they are these.

The word birddog scares me because I owned a 300 birddog and it was very weak in power. That boat taught me all about being stuck.

Re: New Boat got motor ???

I see Mas has a 509 BB and a 416 SB they clam to have a 2 year warranty if this is true why dont the other motor companys do the same. Out of these 2 motors they seem to be close in power and price what one would give less problems?? MAS does a warranty because they build it right for an airboat. N...

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

3 psi is not bad. It can add a lot more than you would think. I would have to see a dyno to know for sure. I have seen it add 50hp at the rear wheels in a car taking away the driveline it would be more.

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

My blower experience is limited, but from what I've seen and done, I would be inclined to purpose build another engine for the blower if that is an option. My assessment would be very similar to Swamphunter's friend in Tampa, in that lower compression will allow for more bang for the buck so to spe...

Re: 10.0:1 compression adding a blower optional?

The engine is built right it has the right bottom end part and the compression of 10.0:1 was off the build sheet for the engine so if it was a bit lower that's a good thing but I am also only going 3 or 4 psi.
