Re: New to airboats and want to buy a used one

For your budget, you can get a really nice boat with few, if any, problems.

Carburetor Expert

If you need someone to tweak your carburetor to extract all of the power that you motor can produce, call Ed Mac in Broward. (954)881-5249. I was not getting all of the power that I thought that I should be getting from my MAS 383. Ed took the time to examine the entire fuel delivery from the tank t...

Re: Pacemaker ignition system

Apples and oranges. You calculate gallons per hour (GPH) by dividing gallons used by the hours run. This will give you an average over the various RPM range that you run that day. If you want to be really serious, run a fuel totalizer. You can then chart your GPH at various RPM levels to see where y...

Re: Airboat trolling motors

I have a Minn-Kota, 85 lb thrust on a 15foot GTO with a 383, that has a foot control which I never use. Its too easy to use the I-Pilot from my seat or hooked to my belt. The bonus is that you can launch and retrieve your boat without a helper or tying a rope to your trailer. It will run my boat for...

I did not know him personally, only here @ Southern Airboat. Back in the fall, as the discussions about presidential politics were boiling over, OlfArt acted as a man of honor and courage of conviction and did it without offense. I would liked to have known him.

Here's mine. Costs less than building a shed. Canvasback in Jupiter made this one. On in 5 minutes, off in 1.

Re: Honeycomb Radiator Protector

Mine is intended to protect against brush and sticks puncturing the radiator when running willows or sticks. It is not intended to be bullet proof or to stop metal projectiles after bolt failure.

Re: Honeycomb Radiator Protector

I have not used that. I use aluminum gutter guards from Home Depot. They come in 5 or 6 inch width and cut to length. There is a ridge down one side that holds it off the radiator. I connect the pieces with tie-wraps and bolt the assembly to the radiator frame. Works really well and does not affect ...

Re: ON THE TRAIL OF THE ELUSIVE FLA. EVERGLADES APE-LIKE ENT

I grew up in Broward and camped with my scout troop in area 3, and at the old scout camp that used to be on the far western end of Griffin Road. Gene Albury and Mr. Stanton, whose first name I don't recall, were scoutmasters who told us. Gene Albury was game warden with the old Game and Fresh Water ...

Re: ON THE TRAIL OF THE ELUSIVE FLA. EVERGLADES APE-LIKE ENT

Back in 1962, I heard about a similar beast in the Everglades, only he was called "Seminole Sam." Never saw him, but they said he/it smelled really bad. Scared a lot of Tenderfoot Scouts in Troop 189.

Re: Flex pipe exhaust insert

I have a 10foot piece if 2 1/2 stainless. PM me if interested. A 2 and a half inch flex pipe clamp will not work. I discovered this the hard way. Napa has the right size Flex coupling. It's a band clamp and works perfectly if you have two and a half inch exhaust header or crossover pipe, you will ne...

Unfortunately, Florida law, this guy could take every penny that's been paid to him for airboats and buy his house with other people's money and Escape with their money. You can sue him to the cows come home but you can't take his home away to satisfy the people that he's cheated. Florida has long b...

That bust occurred in 2014, and there have been smaller ones since. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/north-american-indian-artifacts/394400-careful-collecting-fl.html In addition, if you hunt for fossils on the Peace River, in springs, or elsewhere, Florida law requires a permit for you to do so, a...

Re: Looking for a first boat

If you are going to primarily use your new boat for duck hunting and fishing, my recommendation is a 13 or 14 open hull with a 383. GTO, Hasn't, and Alumatech make great hulls, if you can find one. You can haul more decoys than you want to pick up after, along with your dog, blind materials, and a c...

Re: Classifieds and scammers

Certified checks are way easier to counterfeit that money is. If someone offers you a cashier's check or a certified check, tell them "no," but you will accept a wire transfer. Scammers hate that, won't do it and you likely won't hear from them again.
