Re: LS repower!! Need help

...I found a iron 6.0 cheap with low miles but it is a 2014 vct does that matter? From my research and personal experience, you do not want an engine that turns some of the cylinders off via VVT. I had a 5.3 in my GMC Envoy XL and it blew the top end and then the bottom end after the top was fixed....

Re: DD LQ4 6.0

I'd let her eat and find out how well she runs. 8) Shouldn't be any worse than the 350 DD. I would use the truck intake manifold. Might also make sense to do a cam change to get a little more torque below 3,000 RPMs. X2 They are good engines. I'm happy with my stock one but I've got a gearbox to su...

Re: 11/7 gore 350 or 4.3

Probably not much difference in weight between the two so I'd say you are better off with the 350 since it will make more power than the 6 cylinder.

unless of course you went with an ecotec package which might come in around same weight as a 540 and possibly more thrust on pump gas. I may be mistaken but I believe there is a thread on here that documents an all Aluminum fully dressed LS weighing less than any fully dressed 6-Cyl AC engine. Howe...

I think it would be cool to see a DD LS on the Don Davis and fitting for an AC to be on the Thurman.

Either way - I'm sure we are in for a bunch of stories regarding the builds and change ups lol

I believe he is referring to the "Vinyl Wraps" that you can commonly see on high end vehicles and sport fishing boats now-a-days.

Only thin is I wanna go the carb route we have no one around me that can mess with the wiring or even the ecm and I figure by the time I send all this off pay the money to convert I'll be cheaper just slapping a 650 double pump on it and calling it good Do what you want but you can probably get tha...

I know I'm behind time but was the engine stock when u put it on the boat and if so how long did it last. I have the same motor 6.0 came out of a 2500 have truck just wondering if it's good as is or if u had changed any internals /main bearings to withstand the abuse they r put through. Here's the ...

Re: Performance issues.. need help/opinions!

OP, I think you should be closer to 20* (2 mark) with your combo and build specs. All else I can say is you need a tune up to get it dialed in and I don't even know where to start because it could be a number of things but a reputable engine man should be able to figure it out in no time. Things lik...

Tom specializes in continental A/C engines but he did a fine job building my car motor boat rigging and will definitely point you in the right direction if he doesn't feel like he's the best for the task.

Sir, some people stop responding to inquiries once the item is sold which I believe may be the case. While it can come off as rude, I have learned that that's just how some people do business.

I've never heard of a big block 400, maybe it's a 396 big block?

If it is a 396, it's definitely not a desired airboat engine.

Mike, I spoke with another buddy of mine who went down to cypress a month before us and they didn't see any action either. If it was a more sure deal, I'd be game to head down again.

Best of luck if you do decide to head down there, give 'em hell if you can get on 'em!

Not really the optimal dimensions for an all iron SBC but plenty of other people have ran a similar setup and done just fine.

Build everything else light on the boat for good measure.

How many seats do you plan on putting on it?

Re: Pulling an airboat???

Might want to make sure you have enough slack in the rope in case something swamps the airboat so it doesn't take your pull boat down too, just a thought.

In fair weather I don't see it being a problem.

Re: Which Belt Drive Ratio ?????? Help!!

Jason, If you are only going to spin your engine up to 5400 then I would recommend the 2.37. The 3blade that you mentioned is a good fit regardless of the ratio. I am not a fan of the 2 blade S especially after switching over to a 3blade profile. I was running a 355 SBC governed @ 5k the last time y...
