Re: New and need guidance on 0540

Try aircraft crush washers in the plugs to stop the leaking. Aircraft spruce. Take the factory washers off the plugs. You can torque those up to 30ft/lbs if necessary. Use anti seize liberally. A little oil getting into the cylinder happens, especially at warm up and cool down. Do a leak down to see...

Re: My shady spot

Found a real shady spot Sunday. Out in the direct sun. 20+ people swimming and some ------ in a deck boat comes flying through on plane... SHADY. Next thing I knew a 10-12' jon boat with a 35 on it is doing circles wide open with nobody in it right through the same 20 or so people, men women and kid...

Re: List of people & places who can do an overhaul

If you were in Florida it would be much easier. There are a few good ones throughout the state that will overhaul an AC motor to "airboat specs". If you can't find someone closer to you, I'm sure we can come up with a list of who you could ship it to down here. Good luck finding someone lo...

Re: HULL MOLD???

1) Why an airboat hull for a flats boat? Costs the same to make a boat that won't slide all over. 2) The market for "reasonably priced" flats boats is diminishing. I believe that to be why Carolina Skiff has continually upgraded their hulls. They didn't forget how to make a simple, low cos...

Re: 1/4 rod keeps breaking.

The 1/4 inch hole is not oversized. I don't think he is asking if your hole is oversized, he is talking about the filter/flame arrester. Some people put some pretty big ones on there. I ran a Holley for years with a 10" filter and a dog bowl to keep the rain out. It was drilled and tapped to 5...

Keepin it alive for ya till somebody who has been there in the last day or so chimes in...

... haven't been down there in over month, but my rule of thumb when I had a DD 350 was anything over 10.5' on the gage at 520 and I would go for it. There is 10.7' now so my guess is you will be fine.

Re: Carbon Fiber Prop Coating

This time of year I like to keep a thick coating of smeared bugs on my prop. I also keep it in the shade. That combination really protects the carbon. Like sunscreen in the shade!

I have not seen it done with that dis but I have done it with both gm's hei dis and ford dis. the gm is almost all self contained only needed a coil and a hot wire. the ford needed a outside ign moduale like msd or fords own dura splark. I have seen it done with a gutted mag. . All really interesti...

Re: Fire at Lake Flourence

The wind is blowing E 6mph. Since the oak head is aboit 10 miles due south, it would take a significant wind change to affect the oak head. Since it is summer, that is very unlikely. Especially since there is an 80% chance of rain in about 3 hrs.

Kwan?

1) I thought we were on the same team?

2) Be careful about the smack talk. I still plan to come down your way, hook up and ride this summer. My little green SV pushes. It pushed good with mags, pushes better with the Pacemaker.

Re: Electronic Ignition Questions

The silence on here sounds like Pacemaker is still the best alternative to mags for airboats.

I would like to hear some info on other options also. On the river, I see mags and pacemakers.

Re: 350 chevy airboat

That prop will do fine. I ran a DD 350 with a 69" 5 blade warp for years. It wasn't a hill burner, but it was a great boat. Got 5-7 mpg. Could frog all night on a few gallons of pump gas. Was reliable, and did a great job of getting me into hunt camp as long as it was moist on the trail. Just k...

Ya, I ran a 19' skiff with 4 1/2 people from 50 - Possum yesterday and didn't even hit bottom cutting through the little trail from Paw Paw to 7 Palms.

It's officially summer!

Nice trick Gary.

Cowboy, you did a great job explaining exactly how to move the heat (which was the original question).

Still doesn't answer why braze instead of mig?

Re: Is there a formula for running dry?

You are exactly right Whitebear. I was riding backseat with a buddy that always seems to get stuck. As we approached a sticky spot the other day I felt him give it some gas and thought "he is finally getting it!" Knowing how YOUR boat performs is key. My thin Bear style hull runs dry great...

Re: And just like that...

There was water in the ditch by Midway and it was wet on the jump over to Cane on Wednesday and it is still coming up. Looks like 3' up in a week and rising.

Rain forecast all next week. If it keeps up, Center Dike will be wet by next week!
