Dead bass

Looks like the flooding rain from Irma has killed off loads of largemouths. Just a few bream mixed in. Disappointing!

Can someone please explain to me how lots of fresh water kills off bass like that?

I have bought time by flipping mine around and making it bend the other way.

Make sure to have adequate beer, dump the boat on the ground and take the Rudders off.

Glad to hear you were able to help. Interesting to hear the lack of looting. I am of the understanding that in Texas, a looter can be legally shot dead. Please, correct me in how I am wrong. I am recalling a popular 911 call and the outcome of the trial. If I am correct, this makes a compelling argu...

Re: NEW 1-piece liquid cooled cylinder blocks for Lyc 360 & 540

Interesting in a "can it be done" sort of way. Switching to water cooled adds complication and weight which both are negatives. If it is all 1 piece, you also loose the simplicity and lower expense of only having to fix the one cylinder that has a problem. At a minimum, you are spending ti...

Re: Tree stand thief in Brevard county

Guy on Facebook yesterday tried to tell me they are St. Johns land managers. I asked why they wasn't in uniform & he said they don't have to wear them. Why doesn't he have bolt cutters? I mean, if I was the "land manager" and the job I was getting paid to do today is remove tree stand...

I run an "old school" 12' Panther front driver.

I will ride and it will hunt, but the only way I fish out of it is if I'm parked on shore.

Re: am i wrong? NOT an AC vs. Carboat question.

Looks like we all agree, and I want to point out. 2-3 passengers with no live well (as one eyed gator mentioned) is a TOTALLY different power requirement than 4 people plus a live well. 2-3 passengers with no bait is what I run regularly in my SV 540 on a small light hull. Go anywhere I point it wit...

Re: am i wrong? NOT an AC vs. Carboat question.

We are not saying this hp/weight ratio is a must. There are many other variables and thrust pushes an airboat, not hp. This is just a ballpark to keep you from getting stuck all over. I mean, the reason to get an airboat over a typical kicker boat is so you can go places you otherwise couldn't. Almo...

Re: am i wrong? NOT an AC vs. Carboat question.

I'm an A/C guy, so this is hard to say (sorry Kwan), but you are describing a car motor barge. 4 people plus a livewell is a BIG load and that is where a high hp car motor really shines. Basically, an airboat performs well when set up at around 1/4hp per lb. A good 6cyl AC motor will reliably push a...

Why not sell them locally?

If you ended up with them where you are, someone where you are has a use for them.

Sight unseen from an unknown foreign buyer, they aren't worth half the shipping if they were free.

Ugh :banghead:

This is why I hate public land. Looks like some other D-Bag put a stand there too.

There is only one logical solution to that:

Poop under his stand  although it ruins it for me also, that is a small price to pay to spite a fellow hunter!

After seeing your pics, I put a stand right there that I am planning on hunting the second weekend of gun season.

That makes me the first lazy road hunter and therefore I will always consider that MY SPOT and if I see or hear of anybody else hunting there I'm gonna be pissed!!

I have seen a number of boats with single or otherwise undersized Rudders that worked to the operators satisfaction. I have not seen any with the part sticking up behind the pivot point like you have created.

Going to ride, was just using this as an excuse.

If you are nervous in the rain, that is fine.

I'll be at the ramp in about 20 min.

If you want, I could pick u up at hatbill for a short ride.
