Re: Lycoming piston part numbers

Most Lycoming part numbers have 5 numbers in it, Cont. engines have 6 numbers. There probably are exceptions to this.

capacitor

Anyone know what these capacitors are for? They will fit in a 20 series Bendix. I repair mags and come across these cap. occasionally, and they work just fine, and have to be cheaper than TCM or Electro system 10-51676.

Re: MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

I have come to the conclusion that the opening in the fuel cut off valve is too small, Compared to the opening in the sleeve that the mixture control valve goes in a 4404 fuel bowl. The opening is about half the size. Now to figure out how to open that passage way up. Have got several AA carbs, tryi...

Both nozzles are the new style they are not straight thru. 4404 nozzle 779, AA nozzle 774.

Re: MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

chug have you ever completely eliminated the stumble on a MA-6AA? No not to my satisfaction it will go away then come back intermittently. I wish someone would figure it out, there lots of AA carbs out there. I believe it's the venture causing the problem, and the way an AA carb top is bu...

Re: MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

hey tommy.....is it possible the lean/rich (fuel shut off lever) assembly in the bottom of the 6AA bowl is limiting the fuel flow for a regular 4404 nozzle at wot??? That's possible, the fuel bowl I used is from a carb for a 435, I took a bowl off a 4401 for a 540 and the opening looks the same. Th...

twister69z wrote:Another question, what gasket dos you use on the bowl, Holey one or new one without venting holes?
Does the bowl have the idle cutoff in bowl or lever in the top?

The cutoff is on the bottom of bowl, the gasket is the solid one without the cutouts by the bracket the float mounts on.

Re: MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

The economizer jet is what came in the 4404 don't remember the part #. When I got the carb it was out of a wrecked plane, not airboat junk. I set the economizer at flush minus 1/8 with a M-94 gauge.

MA4-5 Frankenstein Carb

I took a 4404 carb that the fuel bowl was trashed and put a MA-6AA fuel bowl on it. Took the bellows and main jet out, put the 4404 main jet in it, used the MA-6AA idle jet. The fuel bowl is off a 10-4438-1 carb. The carb idles good comes off idle to the main jet like it should revs up good till WOT...

Re: Spacer motor.

If it's a case that used cyl. hold down plates the studs will be long enough, because you don't use hold down plates. The cyls. will have to be cut on the barrel so the cyl nuts sit flat on the cyl. flange, I can't of what that cut is called. Some 480 cyl. are cut some are not. Some use PE 150 shrou...

The carb is a 10-4438-1 according to book off a TV0-435.The bellows are removed, throttle shaft and bushings good, I put new throttle shaft seals in it & set the economizer jet to flush plus 3/4 turn. The carb is on an 0-360.

MA-6AA Stumbles

MA-6AA carb stumbles when you nail it, off an idle then straightens up. Does it real bad when engine is cold, not so bad when warmed up. the carb has had the main jet changed to a jet out of a 0-470 carb jet # 47-749. Any thoughts on this?
