Rode the Grass today

Postby pontoon outlaw » Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:25 pm

 I rode the Brown Grass along the Tree line from the Oak Head to the Plassimon Mound today, and back to the Trees and when I tried to get back to the Water out front.. :slap: that GREEN grass tried to stop me in my tracks  the one Boat that was there was up to the Trees also, so, figures can ride the mile or so miles of Grass with little problem... then slowed to a crawl right in front of the Trees :dontknow: we need RAIN :stirpot: that stuff is nasty

Definitely some nasty spots out there right now. Rode some on Friday and a couple of them green patches put the bow eyelet nearly into the dirt. Need to put some slick bottom / poly on the bottom of the grass rake!

Perhaps not quite so bad as that, :toothy7: , but when the transom is 12 inches off the ground you know mother nature broke out the glue.

Going to be a while before we get any decent amount of rain.....

Heck, there's a patch of the St. Johns south of the levee jump that goes to the Malabar ramp that is at most a half inch deep right now....probably some alternate water paths I'm not familiar with, but that's the lowest I've seen it since I've been in Brevard (not all that long though, less than 10 years).

Got me yesterday dang it! Ran the hill everywhere yesterday no problem, till we stopped for lunch just south of the milk bus pavilion. Parked in the brown stuff, ate lunch, cranked her up and headed for the water but stopped 10' short. Had to put the wife behind the stick and give her a little wiggle to get going again. That short stuff can be very humbling :x :x :x

I was sittin there at Milk Bus when the rain came yesterday afternoon... everybody started getting cocky with a little wet on the ground. Then the sun came back out. I think watching boat after boat get hung up on the back side was great

We went to watch the sun set from Indian Mound and my buddies glass hull SV 0-540 with slick bottom was gobbled up by the green sticky :banghead: sticky. Spent sundown wiggling him back to the brown grass so he could get back to the water. :thumbleft:

Been having some wet "dry seasons" for the last 3 years. It's good to ride year-round.

My bet is that the green sticky sticky grass drinks this rain and turns it into more glue by Saturday.
