OlfArt- Ken Johnson

Postby blackpowderscout » Wed Mar 15, 2017 12:53 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that Ken passed away on the 14th.

Mom's doing OK.

Probably won't be a service but when I get home I'll take him out on the boat one last time.

I did not know him personally, only here @ Southern Airboat. Back in the fall, as the discussions about presidential politics were boiling over, OlfArt acted as a man of honor and courage of conviction and did it without offense. I would liked to have known him.

I only met Ken once in person but I considered him a true friend. He flew helicopters in Vietnam and although he mentioned it a time or two he never bragged about it. A true hero in my book.

I'll miss you Buddy. Prayers for you and yours.

Never met Ken face to face. E-mailed through SA time to time. Talked to Dave Stratton about the rigging he was building for him a number of years ago.

May he rest in piece.

I just heard this news and it saddens me terribly. Ken was the very first member outside of Bondsman that I ever met off SA... We met at the first FAA airboat show held in Wildwood many years ago and became fast friends. His boat was also the first boat I ever did any artwork on the rudders too I believe... He drove all the way down from Orange Park to Brooksville to have me put the a red feather on each of his rudders and the name "Big Feather" on the transom of his bright yellow airboat. He will surely be missed... My condolences to you and your family... He was a sweetie...

Shocked to say the least. Just spoke with him on the phone a couple of weeks ago. Ken was a great guy and is a great soul. He always stayed in touch even as I often let life get in the way of doing the same. Prayers for his friends and family. Rest In Peace Sir.
