trailer tag placement

Postby diamondback0320 » Tue Apr 04, 2017 9:51 am

anyone have any probs with the tag being mounted vertical on driver's side fender..just got done rehabbing a used trailer & mounted the tag under the tail light but it's so low it drags the ground when entering or exiting the road or store parking lot..i know what the law reads but have seen quite a few trailers with em mounted vertical on the fender

For general information; In Florida, if your tag is stolen and you report it as such to the local police, you can then take the Report Number with you to the tag office and they will issue you a replacement plate w/new registration at no charge.

When this happened, I was able to have it replaced with the smaller tag in the same motion.

No questioning that the pigmy tag is a much better gig on a trailer than the traditional, giant ones.

I think mine was $28 to change to the other tag plus the normal renewal fee. Mine was due for renewal and I requested the small one when renewing.

That makes sense, because as an officer, you could be ticketed for a defaced plate as well if its beat up. Gotta be clearly legible from 100 foot.

Don't see a problem on which side it's on as long as it's readable

Mine's been sideways on the driver's side trailer fender since the boat was built back in '06.

No problems with the LEOs at all.
