Posting Pictures in the Forum

Postby rick » Mon Aug 13, 2007 5:02 pm

Any time someone ask's about inserting pictures in the forum, this is the advice I give...

The picture you want to post needs to be on the internet and you need to know it's address. Since you're already registered w/this site, you can upload the pics from your hard drive to your member gallery in "Pictures & Wallpapers".

After that, pull the picture up in your browser & determine it's address. With most browsers you can move your mouse over the pic & click the right button, one of the options will be "properties". After selecting "properties" you should see a little window with the picture's internet address.

Now post a message in the forum & wherever you want the picture to show up in your post, you insert the pic's internet address surrounded by the Img brackets.

The typical internet address for the pic would be something like: http://www.southernairboat.com/photopos ... CF5955.JPG
So when I take that address & surround with like this:

Code: Select all

This is what will be displayed in the forum:
Image

Also, don't forget that everyone can preview & edit their own posts if it doesn't work as desired.

Hope this helps.

Rick

cannot include images with my posts. Thought I followed your directions quite carefully?
Can you help me figure this out? In the automotive forum I tried several different ways to include pictures. No luck. Also, do not know how to become a sight supporter.

thanks

FlyingFish go to your profile, top right in the area where it says FAQ, Search, Memberlist, Frapper Map, next is profile, click here and check at the bottom of the page where it says Preferences. make sure that the option where it says always allow BBC code. Click YES
Now try what you had before, I dont see any syntax error in your post. it looks correct.

Site Supporter:

under your name where it says "Southern Airboat Member" left click on that one time.

From there just follow instructions.

Posting images:

Are you able to upload images to your gallery on the site?

If not, left cllick on Pictures & Wallpapers one time.

Then left click on Member Galleries one time

Then click on "Upload Images" and fill out the blanks.

Where it says "Browse" click Browse and look for the image to post in your computer.

Click that image and the address will appear in the blank box where Browse was.

Make sure you name your albums etc then at the bottom click upload now, I think it is.

Thats it, that picture is now in YOUR gallery.

To get from your gallery to a post:

First click the image in your gallery so it opens to the large picture.

Right click that picture, at the bottom of that menu is "Properties"

Left Click on Properties one time.

You will see a window open with the web address in it just like Rick said above.

Highlight by placing the cursor at the end of the address, press the left button and HOLD then drag the cursor to the beginning of the address and release the button. Now the whole address is highlighted.

Hit CONTRL and hold it down then hit C . You have now copied the address.

Now create your new post in the forum.

At some point in your post where you want the picture:

Click the Img button (ONE TIME ONLY) You will see your cursor blinking between it will look like this Don't move it. Now Hit and HOLD CONTROL, then hit V one time.

This pastes the address of the picture in the post. Now you can move your corsor a few spaces past or at the end of the [/IMG] once there after the [/IMG] hit return to give a line space between multiple images, or for no space just hit the button again and copy another picture and they will appear seamless in the post. Remember to do the above for EACH image you want to post in a thread. I open another browser window for multiple images and get the gallery in one and my post in another window then copy and paste from one to the other so I dont have to close my open post until its finished.

Continue with your text or click PREVIEW or SUBMIT and you will see your post with the picture in it.

Once you do it you'll have it forever.

If you need realtime help, you can call me at 321-693-1634, I'll step you through it as I do it so we both see the same thing at the same time. I have done this with others and it works even when you are frustrated, so if it ain't working give me a call.

Question-

I decided to finally start uploading some pics to the Member Galleries. I started to load some race pics...........when I "browser" back to my picture file I can only upload one picture at a time.....is this correct?

I had quite a few, I did not want to keep loading one at a time because it starts taking up all the space on the Member Gallery page at the bottom, so I stopped.

If a create a New Album, can I place all the pics in that album?

Thanks for the help. As many pics as I take, I wanted to start loading on here, especially past events, if I create an Album for each event and place those pics in that album, it seems like it would be the smart way to go. I am just unclear how to accomplish that.

However, when someone, or even myself goes to look for pics, can they go directly to an "Event Album" I created to see only those pics.

Thanks for the help

I've loaded all of mine one at a time. There must be some trick to bulk uploads. I have no clue what it is, or if it is.

Oh by the way I got folks asking about your art for motorcycles, is it called a wrap or a sticker or something that can be clearcoated over?

Yes Vickie. You can upload bulk, but you will need to have created a ".zip" file containing the pictures and upload that. You can also select an album that you have created, and all pictures will go into it, but they all will be listed in the "Recent Photos" area on the main gallery page once the upload has processed. I haven't figured out a way around that yet, but will keep looking into it.

Paul, pull up the picture while you're logged in and there should be some little icons below it. The second one from the right is the "Edit Photo" link. Click that link & you can change anything about the photo or delete it.

Thanks Whitebear and Rick. I'll see what I can do in the next couple of days.

Whitebear-
confused on the motorcycle thing.............

There is a guy Chris Cruz out of Deland that does that.
http://chriscruz.com/

It's funny, my little brother is Chris Cruz, but he is a fiberglass man, has his own business. They both have gotten each other's calls because of the name. They have actually spoken and talked about doing something together, but not yet.

Anyway, if that is what you are talking about, his number is below:
