4 ring piston vs. 3 ring

Postby fragwhacker » Sat Jan 28, 2017 7:58 pm

I currently run a o-435 with three ring pistons in it. But have some NOS ones that are the 4 ring style. Is there a positive or negative to one or the other? Also are the rings the same just with an oils scraper ring?

I have 435 cylinders on my 290, and if there is one thing I'm sure of is
that those are not the most cost effective rings that a man could be in need of.

Do you already have rings w/ the NOS pistons you referred to? If not, I would
encourage you to check and/or confirm the pricing and availability before you
tear into it, just in order to prevent an un-anticipated complication.
