Carb questions

Postby jakedesnake » Sun Jan 29, 2017 8:06 pm

Recently picked up a gitsu 520 conversion.
It was a beast when it was carbed, they swapped to injection and it was never right...
I'm going back carb.
Question is.... what carb ?
Some say 500 Holley... but is that really big enough?
My buddy runs a 500 on his pe60 4 cylinder... I've had a 500 on a gpu 220...
i remember Harold sickle said the 4 barrels were a bit too much.

I've done countless searching here, some say predator carb. It I don't think they're still in business... I emailed them and jr got rejected.

Any opinions ?

I Know of quite a few 470 GPU's with 500 Holley and 350 Holley 2 barrels on them. Both seem to work well if they are set up correctly.

My 470 conversion, 260hp pistons, runs a 500 Holley with 73 jets, 6.5 power valve. Ive tried other jets and power valve sizes, this works for me.
My friend has a gtsio 520, it has a Holley 650 4 barrel on it. I personally don't like the way the 4 barrel performs on his motor.

500 CFM Ultra XP 2BBL Carburetor

By far the best carb I have ever ran on an ac engine and yes it will support your engines hp with ease.
