Going through oil in my 220 like crazy. Smokes out the right side quite a bit. Especially after loading on the trailer. Compression test showed 120,130,130 on that side. Plugs look like crap all the way around. What could be the issue? Ran out of daylight, gonna do a leakdown tomorrow.
I had a 220 ran great, but started to use oil "like crazy". After disassembly, I found previous owner had used steel oil rings on steel cylinders. Which is common on gpu's for their intended purpose, but they won't last with the higher rpm's and heat generated on the airboats. Works great for a short time. I did a 470 conversion for the rebuild and eliminated that issue. Do you know the history on the rings, motor?
