Greg McCloud Bendix Mag rebuilder

Postby hdsadey » Fri Mar 10, 2017 7:33 am

Just wanted to give a big thanks on here to Greg for rebuilding the Bendix S-20 mag on our boat. It was popping and running like chit. We pulled it apart and ohm'd the coil and it seemed ok. I figured out this was beyond my knowledge. We had already replaced the points and condenser. So I gave Greg a call. Super nice guy. We had a short discussion of what we had done, discussed maybe the rotor needed to be remagnetized. He told to throw it in a box and ship it. 2 days later I got a call telling me it was ready. Greg said the rotor magnets were good but the distributor gear, cam, and impulse spring needed replacing. Also the E-gap was off. Put it back in last night and it's smooth running again. EXCELLENT JOB GREG! The amazing thing was when I asked him how he would like payment, assuming it wouldn't ship til he was paid, he sent it back to me with a self addressed stamped envelope and said just put a check or cash in and send it back! In this day and age that's unheard of. Don't hesitate to give Greg a call to fix your mag. 863-659-1331

Same experience here, same payment method. I recommend Greg to anyone with mag or carb issues

Same here and mine was also the first he had shipped to Canada. Mine was a replacement Bendix s1200 for the POS Case magneto I had.

When I contacted him to ask about a part for a carburetor that might increase fuel flow he told me he would send it, for me to install it, if it made a difference send him the money. If not just send the part back. That's pretty much unheard of these days.
Compromise is failure on the installment plan.

GOD has blessed the Airboat community with this fine man and he sets the perfect example of what it was like when him , I , and others in his age group grew up. What he does every day is what life was like when we were young. You never locked a door, took your keys out of the ignition, nor did you do work for someone unless you did it 100% right and you fixed things instead of replacing the whole unit and you never charged them an arm and leg to do something and you could trust one another to pay you or do what they told you. We had pride in what we did as Greg has today. Its just a shame that today doesn't have more people like him. By the way, Greg , if you read this I didn't have to bring that carb pump back for the new boat I bought had the pump go out of it and it worked in it, but thanks again for offering to buy it back.

Took the boat out last Sunday and WOW what a difference in power. Vibration is gone. Thanks Greg. It got me wondering about the health of the other mag. Think I want to pull it off and send it to you for a tune up. Check all the same stuff. Let me know when is a good time. Daniel

do a simple mag rpm drop test that will tell ya if the other one needs attention if it does then whenever you can be without it for a week....real busy right now...turn around time on a single mag is about 4-5 days
