Gates Poly Chain GT Sprocket Sizes

Postby zion » Thu Jan 21, 2016 5:08 pm

Don't know if this is the best forum for this discussion but I only need one good answer.
I'm planning a Artic Cat XF800 engine build. The primary obstacle is the redrive.
I plan to use gates poly chain components. What size sprockets to get the best ratio?
All advice appreciated. :rebel:

I'd recommend going HTD vs the GT. More "off shelf" options and cheaper. You can still get the HTDs Carbon backed from gates.

Check out goodvibesracing.com for new and used pulleys, belts, etc.

eBay is a good source for used, new, pre drilled, and blank upper/driven pulleys. Check out the ~70T Harley pulleys and you'll be able to sort out the ratio easier using blower pulleys for the lower.

mcmaster.com should get you the rest of the way on the build.

As far as ratio
what are your prop size constraints?
What's redline on the motor and HP?
Using a transmission of any sort?

Excellent information. I would not have thought about the Harley Davidson pulley's.
I can make this work. :rebel:

Bryan Phillips installs the Gates PolyChain drive on hovercraft ranging from 40hp Kohlers to 135hp Steyer diesels. He can probably supply you with the right pulleys in stainless & anodized aluminum to suit your needs.
