I have always coveted an airboat, picked up a Aircat Tomcat

Postby BackwaterBill » Thu May 05, 2016 3:38 pm

this week by way of a swap, and am tickled so far.

It has the 40 hp VW dd with what seems like a tiny prop on it but I have to assume that whoever built it knew/knows boatloads more about this than I do.

I am very familiar with VW engines (now, that is) and love them for their simplicity and how fun and easy they are to work on. I taught myself what knowledge I do have by way of building 3 sand rails from scratch/ground up and just dove into it all headfirst.

I look forward to discussing them with fellow VW users and am interested in mods you may have found or use to make them either: faster, quieter, or also, more dependable in cold weather, as I live in No Central Minnesota and intend to use this for late season duck hunting (early season too)...

thanks in advance to all of you that are VW / airboat combination experts!

Congrats on your new-to-you boat! :thumbleft: I'm sure you will enjoy it. Welcome to the forum too! The search feature in the top right hand corner of your screen is going to be your friend. There has been a lot of VW discussion on here in the past.
