Who builds fuel tanks for a decent price in central Florida

Postby skinnypockets » Mon Dec 12, 2016 8:16 am

I'm working on a sled project and need someone to build a fuel tank. Tank size is 28 in. x 24 in. x 7 in high with the normal filler neck, sending unit, line and vent connections.
Would also like a 1 in. x 3 in. sump / water trap in the bottom directly under the filler neck.

Looking for someone in the Orlando, Melborne, Titusville area.
Please only recommend builders you have bought from and have a good reputation. Thanks in advance, Rich :rebel: :florida: :old_glory:

Rich a friend had a custom aluminum tank made for his boat from this manufacturer. http://www.bestfab.com/
The measurements were exact and he was very satisfied. Not sure if its close to you. Hope this helps.

I've always had mine built by aluimtec in Orlando they do a nice job. I think they are usually around 10 dollars per gallon.

RDS alumninum tanks in Florida builds them for less than I can and they come complete with gauge sensor, cap, etc... They ship quickly and we have been happy using them.

Not sure if this is allowed on here, but there's a few independant guys on the Southern Airboat Facebook page that build any style you want at a decent price. You may want to look there?

Thanks for all the great leads, I'll be making some calls tomorrow for quotes.

kwanjangnihm, Bestfabs website says they can build them out of stainless and I like that but I'll have to see how that compares to aluminum price wise. They also appear to be a large company and may not be interested in my little project.

hogdoggin, Alumitec is much closer and I have done business with them before, good people just didn't know they built tanks.

bkmail, RDS looks good on their website and has in-stock tanks similar to what I need so I will be calling them also.

flcracker9, I would actually prefer to support someone with a small business because that's how I've made my living most of my life but with all the bad stories I've read lately
about people getting ripped off I will only consider someone who is highly recommended by other airboaters.

Thanks again everyone, I'll let you know who I decide to go with. Rich :rebel: :florida: :old_glory:

Alumitech boys did mine. They are locally owned, honest and always do a great job for me.
My choice has the manual fuel gauge that works off a magnet, I didn't want a sight tube and a lot of the other tanks I had seen on the market were using that clear tube. It's nice to take a quick look but if it cracks there goes all your gas right into the bilge.
