Looking for man in Lk Wales that rebuilt mags

There was a fellow in Lk Wales that rebuilt mags and GPU engines: worked for James Comebee back in the day.

    Reduction Unit for 2.3l Lima

By 2.3 Lima Engine, I'm presuming you're referring to the 140 CID Ford 4 cyl. OHC engine from the 1970's through 90's used in Ford Ranger Pickup Trucks and small cars such as the Pinto? If so, I doubt anyone makes a "Factory" Reduction unit, nor have I ever seen or heard of anyone using that...

    Ballistic Drive Ballistic Explosion

Once I understood it as gearboxes didn't hold up well with the loading/unloading associated with constantly being on and off the throttle, and improper gear backlash will break teeth...something just isn't, wasn't right, else it should last a very long time.

Rebuilding Magnetos... not so straight forward. Was my Mag built with the wrong rotor?

Make sure they are on the correct side...I'm thinking (and could be wrong/backward) but left and right are determined from the prop hub and not looking at the Mags...if they were backwards, it would cause all sorts of problems.

What is the benefit of running a "Step Hull"?

Forgive my ignorance, what makes the Step Hull what it is (other than the step in the first third of the bow)

    Over oiling Jug question

PE90 that we changed one jug back to the "original" with new Rings, and its flooding with oil. I have some of the "original" jugs that have an oiling Hole at the top of the center boss where the rocker shaft passes through that oil is pouring through and we're checking the pushrod tubes for...

    Country of California??WTF

Having grown up in Fl. I remember always associating "New York City" being the same as "New York State" when the reality could be the same as saying everything South of Alligator Alley is New Cuba and all that North is Florida. Folks up here have been trying off and on for decades to separate...

Kind of odd ring arrangement (I think)

While looking at the jug assemblies that came off my PE90 I noticed the top ring had two little divots drilled on the top side of the ring: Does that indicate oversize? Also and this is what really struck me as odd the top ring was iron and the second ring was chrome....and I believe the oil...

    Source(s) for PE piston rings?

Well I needed a spare Jug for my PE90 and I had one that was all but spankin' new.....that is until mice decided it made a spacious home. So I've salvaged what could be and now I need a set of piston rings (std. I think) preferably Chrome as that's what the others are, but regular will...

    Quick question on turns:

Which way is it you DO NOT turn under idle speed? I should know, did know, and now am second guessing myself. Is it you don't turn left (where the stern is pushing to the right while the bow is going left) or the opposite? I know my boats limitations, but need to help my nephew who's going to be...

Ever thought about using "colored" emt tubing

Obviously the paint would have to be removed at the joints for brazing/welding, but I suspect they could be color matched with the standard industrial paints. http://www.wheatland.com/electrical-conduit/color-coded-emt-conduit

    Wood Prop alignment

If the tip are not within 1/8" run-out, can that be adjusted? A rough check looks like it's almost 3/4" out. As soon as the ice/snow storm stops and I can clear the deck I'll put a dial indicator to obtain an exact measurement. My thoughts were possibly torqueing the hub on the one farthest...

Across the River from us...This is how we Airboat.

Actually the St. Lawrence is 30 miles farther North, and these guys are across the Seaway in Canada, but they're still neighbors; cool ones at that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcUMmh4OSXg XcUMmh4OSXg

going to a lower pitch: yes, no, maybe so?

PE90 came with an Air Props 66lxl34 paddle prop. Now it turned it without perceivable issue, but never really got above about 2500rpm. (Holly 2300 2V, headers w/o mufflers, reconditioned Bendix mag.) Tried an old Kirkland 66x36 and it turned maybe 2600rpm. I see a 66lml32 in the classified for...

    2V or 4V on PE90

It's been said the Holly 2300 (350cfm) is good for a PE90 I'm at a crossroad: My 2V is off the engine for rebuild (thanks alcohol fuel :angry5: ) and I've got a 4V Holly of a Ford 351W. Is it worth the trouble to adapt the 4bbl on or just stick with the 2bbl? The packet engine is only 313cid...

    Rebuilding my dinosaur boat;

Figured I'd start a thread since I enjoy watching others with their projects, and never took time to document anything I ever did....The High School Kids building their boat has really inspired me. rudders are shot and are foam filled aluminum: I did see where a poster in the HS thread...

Prop maker in Winter Haven or someone to re-tip mine?

My boat came with a new prop from some guys in Winter Haven; I can't read the label, and it needs to be repaired: Something clipped the tip, tearing the cover....everything looks good except the rip on the end, and outside the odd noise it made on the way back in, didn't seem to have any issues...

    Vern-o-therm and oil pressure?

When I first got my PE90 it had over 200psi of oil pressure cold, then would drop in the 50psi range once up to temp. Now there was something screwy with the vern-o-therm (sp) unit on top of the block, and for what ever reason I changed it with one off a PE150. Last time I ran the engine it was...
