    Under geared/propped?

I’ve been running a three blade stump puller Whirlwind on a 425 HP 454 on an 18’X8’ aluminum hull. It cruises great at 3K RPM, and will stay on plane all day long, deep or shallow, at 2400 RPM. I wouldn’t change anything on mine. No poly, either. EDIT: I should have noted that the boat has a...

    350 or 454 with box

I’m running a 454 with a 2:1 Century belt drive that my Dad had built in September of 2006. The aluminum hull’s eight feet wide, and 18 feet long (plus a two foot grass catcher.). It still runs great, though it’s on it’s third drive belt (Dad used to really punch it from an idle all the time)...

How do I remove oxidation from carbon fiber prop blades?

I wipe my blades down with 303 Protectant a couple times a year.

Florida Hunting & Fishing Licenses 1/2 off

I did that the last year I “needed” to buy one. I’m on my eighth year of “senior freebie” now.

Is there such a thing as a low budget gearbox?

Gearboxes run the opposite of the motor. Belt drives have the same rotation direction as a DD.

    Propeller

I think the Davenport folks were called Aero Tech. They repaired a wooden prop for me back in the late ‘80’s.

    Battery

They’ve worked fine for me in a lot of boats for more than a few years. That said; I always put a deep cycle battery in my trailer battery box to run the electric winch. 👍

    Battery

I’ve been using dual 1000 MCA Marine starting batteries in both my airboat and tritoon. The ‘toon’s only a couple of years old; but that combo in the airboat’s (454 w 2/1 belt drive) been used for years. Both batteries were new six month’s ago. I like to change them every four years or so.

    Poor man’s power pole

I just bought two of the 10’ fiberglass poles a while back to keep in the airboat. They come with a couple of different pre-made ropes with loops in them. I just stick them (usually just one) into the bottom, and hook it to the cage or wherever with a bungie cord.

    Pistol with no serial numbers

Exactly. 👍 I have a few guns around here with no serial numbers, because they’re old, and they weren’t put on guns then. Nothing to worry about here…

    Whirl wind prop

I wipe my blades down with 303 Protectant a couple of times a year, and they are staying dark; not whiting out like those on a friend's boat. Mine is a late ‘06 build. 303 is a vinyl protectant.
