    Rick B-Day!

Happy Birthday Rick! When my kids were young, they couldn't understand why I hated my birthday. A few years ago my adult son was watching me fill out all the car, boat and trailer registration renewal forms and writing another check. He said he finally got it, even your own birthday costs...

    Cadillac 500 DD Airboat

More pitch gives you less speed and more problem getting on a plane. Take pitch out to get trailer RPM higher. This will have the engine making more Hp, in turn applying more Hp to the wind. For a 72" prop, 3,000 RPM is about the limit as your prop tip speed is getting close to the speed of...

    Cadillac 500 DD Airboat

So a few things. #1, The guy on the bike was riding an Ebike, he wasn't doing any work! Yep, them things are cool, if bikes can run where you run, best you sell the boat and get an Ebike, it will save you plenty of money, time and agrivation. #2, you were turning 2,750 RPM's at that point and...

    single rudder?

Army, Thanks for the opportunity to cover a subject of interest to me. Everyone can see the same thing for themselves by running up a boat near a leaf fire. Visual aides are always best :) Isaiah 40:31 is important to you so it should be included that in your rudder graphic.

    single rudder?

I do understand, I own 4 rudders and only 2 of them don't have any dents, because I haven't run em yet. I hit more trees and trailers in my yard moving crap around than I do in the woods though.

    single rudder?

Vacuum (lift) is how wings works, it's how airplanes fly. It's how airboat props make thrust. My rudders are 4' tall by 42" long. That is 2,016 in^2 of rudder area. Ambient air pressure at sea level is 14.7 PSI. If I draw just 0.1 PSI of vacuum on average on the back side of my prop I net...

    single rudder?

But this graphic in particular shows a big airfoil rudder in action.

    single rudder?

5th edition was from Prentice Hall, 1973. It's a big book, here is the interesting part.

    single rudder?

So I busted out an old book from the 70's. The pictures are still stuck in my mind and remain valid, so I might as well share.

    single rudder?

Army, I do remember the story of your folks, I love watching eagles soar, two definitely deserve a canvas like a big ole single airfoil rudder. But first, I want to say that this boat in the classifieds has the correct set of dual airfoil rudders. It's a tradeoff, but these things work well...

What prop do y’all recommend for a 12ft with a 350 sbc DD

72" WT is too big for that motor. Just a WAG, but that setup might be hitting 150 Hp at 3,000, just wanting to start running. Put a stock cam and a 2 bbl 350 CFM and you will have 160 Hp, but torque from idle to wind up. As is (or all torqued up), buy the warp drive and send it in for refurb...

    single rudder?

Sounds like a 68" 2 blade is what you want for that O360. Blade width (10-12) becomes a minor choice on the same scale.

    single rudder?

 You gonna have to make up your mind. My present 300 Hp boat with a wide blade 72" NGQ will make 60 MPH in the right conditions (running solid tall sawgrass). 99 MPH is my max in the same conditions, but running a 260 Hp lycoming with a 6 blade 70" Warpdrive. If froggin is your...

Guess he would have to name it HEADACHE then:D

    single rudder?

Post a pic or two, particularly the forward/prop end. It has to be rounded at the front, no break or point. I ain't gonna talk you out of it for sure, I love my single rudder setups. About 11:00 am, when the grass get's tall, hot and sticky, that's when these big ole rudders shine :)

    single rudder?

I run a single rudder setup on a Stossel hull. The rudders are 4 feet tall and 44" long, but true airfoil shape, which is roughly a 10:1 aspect ratio (4-1/2" thick). The rudder generates lift on the outside that drastically improves turning forces, it will actually pull the a$$ end sideways...

    Bilge pump

I run the 500 GPH automatic unit on my deck over (I'm adding a 300 back up). I punched a decent size hole in the hull a few years ago and didn't realize it for months until I was sitting in water and saw the pump turning on/off. On my old offshore boat I had 300 GPH automatic units everywhere...

Fire Department look for an airboat

X2 on that Aeon, Since I run everything to the limit, I try not to run the baddest rig in the woods:) If you do, who is gonna come get you? I would not recommend any super/turbo charged motor on a public safety boat application. Boost = complexity, for reliability go with displacement. I...

    Supplier of Airdrive kits

Look into Paramotors, I would imagine Parasailing would be a popular sport in Norway, you should be able to find local suppliers. I don't recommend the enclosed aluminum coffin design, but the link below shows this option. Whatever you do, don't plan on carrying much weight on your described...

    Bilge pump

I have had great luck with the Rule Auto pumps going back to the 90's on all my different boats, airboat to offshore. I have tried all kinds of different float switch solutions and all of them have failed me at some point due to clogging, age etc. The Rule pumps kick on every 2-3 minutes, if...
