I'm lookin to build a small airboat soon, mainly cheap, and am looking to power it with an 0290 125hp 4cyl Lycoming. My dad who has built the first welded decked airboat in Louisiana had a 125 boat but was 10ft and had a wood stick prop. Barerly ran dry ground. I was lookin at builin a 10ft or a 12ft boat out of 1/8" with 1/4" polymer. Would like it to be single rear operator and have a 3ft full grass rake on the bow. I'm not sure if there are any composite props that will fit the 125, if anyone know of any and knows how the performance is, that is if its any better. I would like the boat to be able to run dry ground, but is not neccesary. I'm just trying to put a smooth little boat together that will either run dry or marsh hop with just 1 person in it, and a 20-gallon tank. I would really appreciate any info anyone can give me. Thanks everyone for the help.

Visit both Sensenich and Powershift web sites. They have various options for lots of different HPs. In my opinion, if those two have blades that would push them, either of those two would be great choices.

A boat like that will run great. When I grew up everyone on the St Johns had a 90Hp only a few had 125Hp about 90% of them had to be hand propped. I owned a 125 Lycoming on a Gore hull that ran dry good. Then again I was in Jr. high and weighed half what I weigh now.
