i took the old starter to a local alternator/starter shop and they are trying to find out what make it is. the guy there thinks it may be a toyota or mitsubishi. just wondering if any of you all know what starter it is or what would work for this application. thanks in advance.

You may want to call Dick Waters at Air- Tec. He builds the starter and alternator kits and could probably tell you which alternator it is.

There are two different ones depending on your flywheel. There is one for a fine tooth and one for a coarse tooth flywheel. I'll check when I get home tonight, I know I have a part number for one of them and I'll tell you which flywheel it matches.

there is a shop down ere off us1 turn left at (I think) village green behind that used car lot and napa there is a little plaza his shop in in the back left corner. sorry I don't remember the name I normally just stop by and the guy has always be helpfully telling me if I do or don't need to rebuild something and he will know what start it is.
if you can't find him let me know I swing up there and meet you to show you where the shop is.

Sorry man. If was the coarse tooth (122) the number would have been 16236 and at Advance it would have been $60 or at Napa it would have been $104. Its a starter for an old Celica or something. I have a fine tooth starter (149) but haven't been able to identify a replacement for that one. I bought that setup from Air-Tec.

Sorry I couldn't help.

I have a Chrysler 440 79 start for the coarse 121 or 122 (t can not remember)teeth. . You can change out the ring gear for about $60 to $80 . IT takes about 35 MIN once you have the fly wheel off. Fine tooth has 149 teeth.

Firemedic I have a starter part number for a fine tooth flywheel application now. PM me if you still need it. I hope you haven't found one yet. I have a bad story about a business that sells starter kits as"NEW" and when you remove his sticker they are Duralast remans from Autozone.
