0470 GPU Ring Gear

While changing oil today I found the ring gear to be partially separated from the hub.When I removed the Ring Gear I also found stress cracks in three of the spokes. Has anyone had this problem? Folks with 220s might want to check this on their engines. This could have been a dangerous situation if I had not found it. It could have also left me sitting out on the flats. Can anyone suggest where would be the best place to start looking for prop bolts and a ring gear? Aircraft Spruce wants almost $20 for a 6 x 1/2" bolt and I have no idea where to look for a Ring Gear. Any help finding these parts would be appreciated.

I had the same problem the other day with my 4 cyl except 5 of the 6 spokes where broke :shock: I guess I got all the good out of this one I could. it should be the same ring gear (flywheel) I went to local auto parts and got a Chevy automatic flywheel and drill the new holes to match my prop flange

Also keeners in west plam has a alum flywheel they sell in there kit (just spoke with them today) I am not sure what just the flywheel would cost though

here is mine not sure if you can see all the cracks or not but at least you can see how the new holes where drilled

Mine is cracked just like yours only the ring gear has partially separated from the hub. Thanks for your suggestion, will try parts store tomorrow for Fly Wheel and bolts. Tried to find one on ebay. But, without a part number it is hard to do. Prices are right on ebay.

I was able to get some 1/2" X 6 1/2" Grade 8 from a local hardware store (small mom & pop place - not one of the national chain stores)
