0470 running bad

I have a angle valve 0470 that since I rebuilt it always ran great. The other day had it on the ground changing trailers and it started running bad. Missing like it was only hitting one 3 cylinders. Pulled mags, they were hot. Changed filter, old one had no water, drained carburetor, no water there. Took carburetor apart that Greg McCloud had built for me to see if maybe a piece of trash was in it. Nope clean as a whistle. Grasping at straws I went ahead and changed plugs which wasn't a total waste of time or money as I haven't changed them since rebuild. But it changed nothing. Started checking clamps on intake and leaned on the pipe that runs from one side to the other. It broke off. I tape up the hole where the pipe went in and the end of the pipe, cranked it up and back to hitting on all 6. Boy was I happy. Now all I have to do is get it welded back on.

Glad you found the problem. I’ll have to check my clamps and tubing. Mine has a rough idle but they say that’s how these engines are. Once I get it up to operating range it purrs nicely.
