0540 SPARK PLUGS AND NEVER SEZE

If your referring to putting never seize on the sparkplug threads before installation I say it's OK. I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem that resulted from using never seize. Keep in mind that never seize should be used sparingly.

Technically your not supposed to put anything that insulates the plug from the head. The plug is supposed to get as hot as the head for heat transfer and insuring proper plug heat ranges. This being said i have seen a lot of plugs with all kinds of sealers and anti-corrosives on them and the motor ran fine. Theres a lot of things you are supposed not to do and do them anyways with no bad effects!!!!!

I use it. I'm thinking Lycoming may say to in the manual. I'll check on that;but, I'm quite sure they say to torque the plugs to 35 ft lbs.---I've never had the doo dads to torque them that much. Not trying to change the subject---it's just how old peoples brains work.
