Newbie here, well sorta. Been reading and watching the site since its conception years ago. Used a different name years ago but life changes as we move through it. Been to shows and met many of you and finally after years of wishing.......bought my first ride! Heres my question......several people have looked at it and some tell me its a AV, others say its a SV.......to behonest i dont remeber what the previous owner told me it was because i was just busting at the seams that i was actually jumping in with both feet! Lol.....is there a physical appearence, something that stands out, that i can see that tells me which it is? Ive looked at pics from google until i cant see straight and i cant find a pic where i see a difference. Thanks for your vast knowledge!

Bad,
Please post some pics of your engine and we can answer directly vs. playing guessing games. But the valve covers are the easy way to tell. Covers reasonably square is a straight valve. Covers with a trapezoid shape are angle valve.

Ted,
Note that I'm trying to move the heat shield discussion over to it's rightful place:

So, back to this thread and the originator, Baddad, is it wrong that I am NOT AT ALL outraged about a daycare giving boys giant foam Hulk gloves to pummel each other with? They each get one and I don't see any rule breaking, not even one kid sneaking in a kidney punch with the bare fist. Good god I would still be in jail by today's standards :cherry:

You guys are a trip! Thanks for the pics. Its to funny, I was trying way, way to hard. If it was a snake it would have bit me! Ive got an angle.......I

I've had engines with them square looking ones and the trapezoid looking ones...…. but the best motor I ever have had said Continental on the valve covers. :toothy7: lol

Yea there all cooling fins. If you ever really look continental have cooling fine everywhere. Now obviously I stray off topic on any thing for any thing.
