1/8 mile races...

My buddy will be running his 7.69 1/4 mile mustang this weekend in Immokalee. They have a .8th of a mile track there, and some good cars will be in attendance.
Should be fun..from what I hear these 1/8 mile races are better than 1/4 mile races?

immakolee is a cool , laid back, not to very strick, track and ive seen some real fast cars there. when they have points races my brother-n-law is there with his dragster.
it seems more like organized street racing to me. fun time. :D
if anybody else is going maybe ill drive out there tomorrow.....been wanting to take my son.

There is a new 1/8 mile track right off 27 and Krome ave. on the Dade/Broward county border. It is the old touch-and-go runway that was just north of the Krome intersecton. it's called Countyline Raceway. I haven't been out there yet but i hear they have some pretty strong cars out there and they do alot of quad drag racing as well, some fast alcohol bansheesand etc.

One thing I can say about Immakolee is bring you bug spray. I think they are worse than out in the glades. Great group of people out there. Havent run there in a while.

1/8 mile is the new thing. When I was a crew chief in Pro Mod you Had 18 or so cars show up for a field. The last Dixie Pro Mod race I went to in Georea 37 cars showed up for a 16 car field everyone is running 1/8 mile now because it's so much safer and cheaper. We use to have to adjust the clutch every run and pull the trany out every two runs. The last race I went to we qualified second and all we did all day was stay on top of the tires and change the N20 bottles and pack the chutes between each round. The 1/8 mile work and maintenance is more like bracket racing instead of Pro Mod! What's really funny is the tracks are horrendous compared to the Pro Mod National events and it takes a .30 to make the field or you go home!

You had to qualify around 4.30 to make the field thats what an .30 meant . Our best pass was a 4.23 around 168MPH and we only qualified second! This season their running in the teens regularly! This year will be a whole new beast for us because the owner of the car switched from a 738 BBC on N20 to a blown Alcohol Hemi motor so it will be a whole new learning curve for us!

Countyline Raceway has a good variety of cars and bikes. street cars, run what ya brung, pro stock, drag bikes. Heck, there was even a Lambourghini out there that made a couple of passes. Was out there with my 2 boys several weeks ago. There was a new Cadillac Escalade driven by a lady that was eating vetts. $10 to watch, $20 to race. The dirt track is west of 27 on krome, south side about a mile.
