Kitchen Pass

have a 170 angle valve lyc. right now have a 70 in. 4 blade warp drive that needs tlc. been on boat too long with alot of hard running. would like ideas on a new prop. will be trying out a friends 68 in. power shift after this weekend. we already know we aren't going to buy this brand. just want to try something different to see what is better. found out we can get a brand new whirlwind after taxes for just around 1400.00. any ideas as to what size , etc. would be appreciated.

Rick can tell ya when he sees this thread. Kpass.

He was running a 170 for a long time on his Hammant.

What kinda hull you got?

I ran a 72" Sensenich composite on my 170 & was real happy with it. I also ran a 5 blade (68" I think) warp drive for a while...the boat ran good with that one also, but I couldn't get used to that warp drive sound.

These days I'm running 160 H2AD (from Chipper), on a Hamant with a 70" Sensenich composite that's set on the far side of the second mark. It's turning a little over 2900 rpm's and puts out more than I would have expected from an O-320.

Got friends in Christmas that are running the powershift on their 160's and they're all real happy with them as well.

I don't know much about the WhirlWind's, I've never seen one on an O-320.

We have a 12ft Hammant hull now. Alittle less than 7 wide. Rides wonderful the way it is, but warp drive is about wore out. Splitting on tips, etc. We run dry alot to get where we are going towards the end of hunting season.

Don't be afraid of the Signature Series Power Shift / WaterWalker prop. I run one and have nothing but GOOD to say about it. I have never heard of a Signature Series failure. I had an old metal works failure with a big client a couple of years ago and the cage got into my Signature. Clipped the end up, but did not disintegrate. Got us home from way deep in the marsh. I'm convinced. Nothing bad about the others - but, nothing bad about PS / WW either on their Signature Series.

Thanks guys. Just looking for input. The only thing we have ever run is either a wood prop or warp drive. Have heard alot of good things about most of all the props out there. But then again, alot of horror stories. Will be putting the Power Shift on tomorrow and then the test run. But, like I said. Only borrowing this one, have to look into buying.

ALRIGHT, SOLD THE FOR WHEELER AND JUST ORDERED NEW PROP TODAY. SHOULD BE IN FRIDAY. BEEN TRYING OUT A 70 IN SIG SERIES POWER SHIFT. BOY, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! 2900RPM, CRUISE AT 1900.ALMOST MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT TWO EXTRA CYLINDERS. OF COURSE WE JUST BORROWED IT FOR THE START OF THE SEASON.

FRIEND OF OURS IS A DEALER FOR WHIRLWIND. HE RECOMMENDED THE 68 INCH SUPER SNAPPER AND SAYS IF WE DON'T LIKE, WE CAN SWAP IT FOR A 70 INCH. NO PROBLEM. A BUNCH OF OUR BUDDIES THAT RACE AND BUILD THEIR OWN BOATS (ALL AIRCRAFT) SAID THE SAME WITH THE 68 INCH PROP FOR OUR BOAT. GONNA TRY IT OUT AS SOON AS MUZZLELOADING IS DONE THIS WEEKEND.
