hey guys i am going to start the build up of my motor in a few days i would like to know if theres anything special that needs to be done to the lower end.

so far this is what i am doing (budget is tight hull and rigging got expensive for me)
stock lower end with new rings and bearing with a slight hone to the cyl,s
i was thinking to stock specs on the gaps and clearences ?
i have the stock heads or some fresh marine heads (will get casting #s)
summit cam kit sum-k1100,double roller timing
and the general new rebuild stuff.

any suggestions or comments would be appreciated

Talk to WaterThunder he the Man when it comes to Chevy's Felber would be another awesome one to talk to as well

I rebuilt a 84 350 to use as a DD. My motor would run! I had it bored 30 over, put that same summit cam in it, and basically rebuilt the whole motor. Worked very well for me. If you haven't bought that cam yet, I have my old one with the lifters and pushrods, with very few hours on them and they dont have any wear on them at all. Got a gearbox and and dont need the cam anymore. I also have a brand new set of federal mogul flattop pistons that I need to get rid of too. They're standard, got them in a trade and couldn't use them because i bored my motor out. I also have many other 350 parts that I need to get rid of. PM me if you are interested, not looking to get a whole lot, just need to get rid of a few things.

if you can at all possible use VORTEC HEADS and matching intake. I just went through all of the same mess

i would love to but after close inspection #5 ringland is cracked in a few places and a pretty good scratch on same cyl. so that means an overbore and more money,
this airboating is more expensive than i thought, can't wait until its done though

i have been reading on some other post that their is a difference between auto engines and auto airboat engines but they don't go into detail i understand these builders don't want to reveal secrets or their own little tricks but a little info would be greatly appreciated.

late model vortec heads and matching intake with your average rv cam works wondersand you can get a honest 220hp to the prop just advance the cam 4 to 6 degrees it will make good torque and when you buy a gear box just retard the camshaft 6 degrees and your good to go

got a 92 with cast iron heads 88,000 miles out of my wifes totaled out van still all factory stuff on it will take 300 cash ran great burned no oil just needs intake /carb is has the factory tbi/intake on it now was going to save it for a back up for my boat but need the money mitch orlando 4073664858 cash setting in shed under tarp
