Hey 'Yall, I just wanted to let everybody that didn't get to go know what a GREAT time they missed. They sure put on one hell of an event, very few problems (I heard about 2 boats that sank, one tried to climb the hill at the resort slid backwards and went down, and one went down at THE LOCK), lots of good people, great weather for the poker run on sat, and alot of AWESOME airboats (the BIG DOGS came out to play and played hard). This was my first trip to River Ranch, lake Kissimmee, and THE LOCK (now I understand why you guys drink so much, I can say that I've done it and the first time left me puckered on both ends, there ain't nothing about THE LOCK that goes with airboating with just yourself on the boat) I'll let you guys know that almost all of my airboating has been here in the Glades, they do it a little different up North, going from deep water with 1 1/2 foot chop to no water at all if you've got the boat for it. The ride up the river and across the lake with all the waves had me checking my fillings at the first stop. From there we went to the ridge where some of the BIG DOGS could strut their stuff, these airboats had AWESOME POWER, they climbed up and over the hill that was easily 18' high. Then we went to the MILK BUS, a nice spot to hang out under the old oak trees. Shortly after that stop the other boat I went up with had mechanical problems and we decided to head back, going across the lake the coil on my boat crapped out (the engine quit in deep water, boy was that fun) we had spare parts and changed it out while drifting around the lake, it got a little hairy as some of the bass boats screamed past us and the wakes went by. Does anyone know how deep the lake is? All things considered I had a GREAT time. I needed a bigger memory stick for the camera, there was so much to see. This was the most airboats I've ever seen in one day. There was no way to count all the airboats that showed up, I would be willing to bet there was more than 150 spread over the lake during the day. I only saw 3 FWC officers (2 on airboats and 1 more in his truck) and did not hear of anyone who had problems. I will definitely be back next year!
