202 fuely head

What is a good ready to run set of fuely 202 screw in studs, guide plates with 1.5 roller rockers worth.

A car guy wants to buy some of the SBC parts i have and and i an really out of touch with cost of them any more.

I just bought a set of ported and polished 2.02 fuelie heads with guide plates and screw in studs and 600 lift springs for $200. They are probably worth a lot more.

What do you guys mean by fuely heads? To me, that is nitro heads with no water passages. If it is real early FI heads from the early 60s or 50s, not much, unless you can find a collector to give top dollar for an OEM matching set to complete or repair. They suck, but not really, if you know what I mean. You can put 3 inch valves in them and the won't work as well as a set of Sportsman World heads or Brodix Sportsman heads. Just my 2 cents worth. I did a bad ass set of 041s with ALL the bells and whistles and a set of World heads w/o anything picked a car up 4/10 in the 1/8 mile bolted on and that is a documented fact. I told the dude a 2/10 gain would occur, but 4, I was happy. They are a little over 900 beans with shipping and I am a dealer

What we are talking about is also referred to as camel hump or double hump heads. If set up right they are capable of powering a sbc into the low 11's in the quarter mile.

Got it, same as the 041s. Angle plugs are very similar, but not straight IIRC. Get em cheap enough and they'll do fine. Hard to beat the newer port designs of even the cheapest Dart, Brodix, World or Pro Actions for the buck though. The way I judge em, if they need seats, guides, springs or even valves, they aren't worth fooling with from a dollar to dollar standpoint. Just my opinion though. I had a customer several years back with a foot brake ET drag car with a maxed out set of double humpers and you know the rest of the story.

I agree the ports on the new heads have alot more to offer but like you said get them cheap enough and they do the job just fine. My set came off a malibu running almost 11 second flat. He had very little time on these heads since having them redone and decided he want to go faster. He came across a good deal on a set of afr's and roller cam which put him in the lower 10's. I was looking for more power on my boat and for the price could not go wrong.

I think the thread got a little off-topic when all that was asked was what they were worth, not how much better another head is. Kinda like me voicing that I think the World head is crap in comparison to a RHS or even a Vortec for that matter.

The Camel Hump (461, 461X, 462 and 291s) heads are still worth decent money. The 461X is worth crazy money cuz it was off the 327/375HP and very rare any more.

There is still a good demand for them in class racing where an OEM head is mandatory, and often the Vortec is illegal. Plus as was stated correctly, they are easily a 11 second cylinder head, and some guys want the factory stuff. IMO if they are clean heads with good components, and already have been converted to SI Studs, they're worth between 250 and 500 typically.
