Well its been blowing about 25 mph here for the last couple of days but I couldn't wait any more. Took the boat out for the first time today and she ran great. I have to thank Chris with Dakota airboats, He set the boat up right first time out. I ran the boat with the wind, against the wind, and every other direction at all speeds and she does not porpoise at all. I know we had some gusts to 30mph so it was hard to get exact numbers as far as what rpm she cruised at, etc. The wind direction really made a difference. The 268:1 with the 80in superwides really works well with my set up. In the past 6 years I have owned and run a 2.12:1 with a 78in 3B power plus. then I went to a 2.12:1 and 80 in falcons. after a fresh rebuild, more hp, went to a 2.37:1 and a 3B 80in Maxiums. I can not fairly compare the superwides to the maximus blades because I have not run them both with the 268:1. But the 268:1 definitely jumps up on plane quicker, has more snap, and cruises at a lower rpm. the boat also moves on dry ground at a lower rpm. With both set ups the blades were picthed so the WOT was @ 4800rpm. The superwides are set on the #3 mark and the maximus blades were set @ 1/8 in past the factory mark. there is only one mark on them. top end appears to be about the same between the two. The 2.68:1 just does everything quicker. This is IMO with my set up.
