350 direct drive

crabby come on out to Loughmans Sat for the Care Package Ride.I'm sure you will get all your questions answered.

You may want to consider running a caddy motor. Definitly a good hill runner on a budget. A good running caddy will swing the same prop a 540 angle valve will turn. i have seen a few good running caddy boats that will hang with a 540 boat IF BUILT RIGHT.

Man, this post just brought back a flood of memories for me. I used to run a 350 Olds DD on my first airboat. It would run dry as long as I kept it moving with my foot in it. If I wanted to stop somewhere I had to find a hump in the ground or a bush or something to stop on. Anything to keep some air under the boat so I could get moving again. I can't tell you how many times I got stuck out in the middle of nowhere. I could write a book about all the self recovery tricks I learned back then. I would never want to go back to those days , but I wouldn't trade them for the world. The things that I learned through trial and error back then are priceless. I kinda feel sorry for anyone who never went through that. :D

try a72x34 stick prop has lots of snap and good push. Tim wag man now, but Leroy Knowles use to build all my props for me . DD 350 on a13' caloosa hull always went where i wanted to go dry and back. ran it for years had rear run side by side seating with triple seat up front, boat didn't porpoise or plow. rpm's were 3000 wot. about 2200-2600 to break loose on the ground. hope this helps in any way. any more ?? call or pm me 321-217-2864 ask for mike. ya'll have a good day. alumitech520/mike

I have a cotton mouth 13-6 with a 350 DD running a 70 32 stick (wood) i can run it up 3000 i would like to turn a bigger prop get more push on dry ground. It will run some dry ground but not enough summer coming and its going to get sticky.

I just blew up my 350 Friday night coming back in to Camp Mack. I rode from about 9:00 to 2:00 and had no problems and then all of the sudden it blew. It broke 2 connecting rods, cracked another piston, chipped the block on 1 of the cylinder walls, scorched the crank in 1 spot, and maybe messed up the cam(not sure about that yet). It made me want to cry after taking it all apart.

Robby I hate to hear that after all your hard work.I hadn't seen you on here lately and was wondering how you and your boat were doing. Now you are officially an airboater.

I had just been really busy with school and work and was tired when I got home, so I just read and didn't type. But it really sucks. I'm not sure whether to buy an engine already together and use the parts I have, or rebuild this one again. The boat was runnin great though, before all this happened, go figure!

That was a really good running DD350 boat you built there Robbie. Sorry to hear of it's demise, but from what I've seen of you it'll be reborn better and badder than ever.

Check the junkyards and build another motor. Whatever your budget allows! (you & me are on the same kind of budget)

hang in there!

matt.

Robbie,

I bought a 350 from a guy who has a shop in Tennessee he builds car motors and airboat motors and has been doing it all his life he knows how to build an airboat motor and will build you whatever you want, he keeps a place in Camp Mack that he comes down to off and on to work on motors and boats, the guy is real reasonable a 350 block 60 over rings 10 over rod and main bearings, been on my boat for a year now.guy even dropped it off at my house real good people.l can give you his number if your interested

I have a brand new power plus propellor which I think retailed for about 1800 dollars. It is a left hand rotation 2 blade with the standard hub. It needs to go. Trades, cash, wild weekends, you let me know.It has NEVER been used.
