Could someone tell me on this engine if it is normal to have a very light slack movement when you turn the end of the crank by hand . It will have no slake in one direction but I can feel a slight no pressure movement when I try to move the crank the other direction. doesn't matter which way you turn it there will be immediate resistance one way and maybe fingernail thickness of none resistance when you go back other direction. Cold or hot no difference, oil pressure fine at idle and under higher rpms. No vibration, no unusual noises, just happen to notice it and thought I should ask in case this might be a problem before it becomes a major issue . One of them deals where for some reason I moved the prop and felt it and took notice to it. May just be a false alarm. Oh, and it is rotation movement not up and down.

You have to take in consideration of clearances, bearings, ring lands, wrist pin to rod and pin bore in piston, now the other thing to consider is, your camshaft is preloaded by valve springs, which will allow it to rotate easy one way, feeling the lash in the gears is likely what it is.

Thanks, That was my thoughts but I needed to hear it else where so I didn't blow up from worrying instead of the engine blowing, lol
