What can be done to get more out of 502 502 or is it better to to a small block and smaller boat. That new 383 looks like a very good motor. has anyone used it?

Is your 502 in one piece or is it hurt. The main question is how big is your boat and how do you run it. Loaded with passengers, dry or mostly on the river? You can easily turn your 502 into a 540,565 or build a 550HP small block that weighs 200lbs less than a big block. The G.M. 383 isn’t a bad piece but I don’t like their head castings their deck surface is a little to thin and they will not perform as good as your 502. If your 502 is in good shape you can make some serious ponies out of it with a cam, head and intake change. It’s as easy as falling out of a tree to make 650hp on pump gas out of a 502. It really depends on what you want your boat to do.
 
Waterthunder Boat is a 18x8 motor has less than 30 hours on it. Also what prop. do you like for this boat it hsa a 2to 1 belt drive. Thank for the help.
 
What is it that you presently don’t like about your airboat. Do want more horsepower? As for props. I would run a three blade power plus powershift since you already have a 2 to 1 belt drive. If your motor is in good working order it has the potential to make a lot of horsepower.
 
I am pretty happy with the boat, but I see these new props. motors , drive units it gets a guy to thinking. I understand it's all about what you want to spend, but maybe a 15' boat with a ls1 with a gear drive steel flex bottom would be a great 2 man boat. But I need a boat that will carry 4 men. 1 dog ,48 duck decoys 36 goose decoys 4 coffen, guns.That spell a big boat to me.Motor is great shape, what heads, cam,intake would make this this boat run. I enjoy this site alot. thank fo the help
 
A buddy of mine has a 15-8 by 8-2 alumatec all stainless rigging a 502 with a 2 -1 belt box and a 3 blade power shift power plus cypress series and he runs 4 full grown adults with it loaded with all the camping gear and dogs and drive where every he wants to go with no problem.
 
If you presently have a 502HP 502 Chevy. Your motor should have the 110cc chamber aluminum Oval port heads on it. You can gain a hundred horse in this motor by a cam change and some head modifications. I would also recommend an intake change. This motor will really wake up with these mod’s and the motor will make notably more power everywhere not just at high RPM’s.
 
Waterthunder what are the cam, intake, headchange you would do? Anyone try super changer on this motor?
