90 gpu problem

this is my first airboat and the motor will idle fine but when you get going around half throttle the motor will sputter and fall on its face. l can get going and the same thing starts to happen, the more gas l give it the more it sputters and come to a stop. l changed the spark plugs and air filter, and full filter. that did not fix it. any help would be great.

Sounds to me like you might have a carb problem. I would check out the main jet and main air bleeds, as it seems like you are not getting enough fuel as you open the throttle.

Does it get worse when it's hot? Could be a tired fuel pump. You might try to temporarily rig an electric inline, and see if that cures the problem.

when i got my 220 it had a dodge fuel pump followed by a eletric one it run like a champ till i tried pushing it it start too flutter around 2700 tock them both off and got the one made for it hasnt done it agian

check you battery, make sure its fully charged.. enough to run the fuel pump, and give the motor the gas it needs.. this happened to me once, and it would idle fine but at higher rpm it would spit and sputter.. if your battery is fine then, it sounds like a carb. problem, or maybe something in the gas? it could be alot of things, start with the simplist ones!

thanks for the replys. l took the boat to triple w airboats . they worked on the mag, and still the same problem. Now they are checking the carb. will let you guys know. thanks

Generally speaking, when any engine starts and idles good but falls on it's face when you rev it up, it's fuel starvation. Glad you found it.
