hope you all have some input. what is the best paint to use when painting an a/c engine. also what is the best application method. appreciate all input.

If your want spray paint Dupli-color make some mighty fine engine paint. The big thing is making sure the engine is de-greased. Dupli-color also has an engine paint primer I don't know of any other manufacture that has a primer for engine paint. Also NAPA carries it and Wal-mart. I love it and it IS the best for a spray paint.

The best primer to use is the zinc chromate primer you can find it at most paint and body supply stores.

the guy who is building my motor, gets a/c paint(lycoming grey) in gallon cans and shoots it from a spray gun. for what two spray cans costs, you can dang near buy a gallon. it looks real good too, even after its dried, looks like it soaking wet.

If you can find out the name of it I would be real interested in it.

The company that makes the lycoming grey and continental gold in spray bombs is Tempo. Not sure about the gallons though.

give him a call at 321 674 9875 and he should ship it to you if needed

I changed the color on my engine without stripping the paint . I f the old paint isn't peeling just give it a good coat of zinc chromate primer then paint with thecolor of your choice

i was a aircraft mechanic for 9 yrs. be careful the more paint you get on the jugs the less they will cool..also light metalic colors are better than dark soild (silver or gold is the best on the jugs)
