A special hunt

Yesterday morning I woke my youngest (14) about 7 am and asked if she wanted to do a little snipe hunting. She jumped at the chance. It was just her and I and it would be the first time she actually carried a gun in the field. She became the 3rd generation to use this particular gun. My father origianally got it when he was about her age heading from West Palm Beach to Savanah for a hunt with family members. It is the gun (an Ivers Johnson - Champions model) that my brother and I cut our teeth on. (A little nostalgic, I know). Anyway, we spent close to 2 hours in the woods and saw absolutely no snipe, or dove for that matter. I was able to point out game trails, sign, and discuss much in the way of hunter safety and ethics. We were also able to discuss personal things relating to life issues and our christian walk in it. It truly was a special hunt, one I'll cherish the memories of.

John C told me you were a special man...There's an old Baretta 20 ga. single shot in my closet that has a similar history. What a wonderful picture and story.

I sit in a climber almost everytime I hunt about 30+ feet in the air. My 6 year old son decided he wanted to hunt with me this year. So I went out and bought a blind. We have not seen alot of deer, but the conversations and time spent together in the woods has been unbelievable. Teaching our kids about the outdoors, manners. and respect for others is so important. As a matter of fact were heading to the river this morning and then to the hunting camp for a afternoon hunt. Good job Cracker.

Followed it today with a morning walk in the woods with my younger son (19). Again, great personal, indepth conversation just the 2 of us. We were interupted by a couple of birds which decided to come home with us :D (1 snipe, 1 dove).

Whats so great is that all of the above hunts are successful hunts. Im glad theres more than a few true sportsmen around still.

Good show to you all !

Ah, the seed that falls on fertile soil...you can count on those times not returning empty. You will reap bountifully. Bless ya.
