Aiboat World Nebraska Rodeo Article

I just got my missing issues yesterday and I found the article about the Nebraska Airboat Rodeo in February's issue. I'm just curious how many from other states were thinking about making the trip to Nebraska for a run. The info I have so far is that it will most likely be held near Schuyler twards the end of July or early August (no date set yet) and they have planned to not have any races this year due to the liability reasons. If a bunch were coming out we could talk to the Nebraska Airboat Association to see if we can work around not having races and possibly get someone else to sponsor some races. It would be another good opportunity for some of you with Quiet airboats to show your stuff and possibly convince some of the loud boats out here to quiet down before we loose our areas to ride. I have heard that in lieu of the races they plan to have a band and other family and kids activities. If you have any questions you can contact myself or Tim Bryson and we will do our best to answer them. Last year I know Stan Floyd from American Airboats made the trip and from what I hear he had a good time. Even if there are no races it will be a good time. Come out and enjoy our great river.

We are looking forward to coming back. Stan said he had a great time and met alot of great people. We will be back and we will bring more people and more boats. If we know ahead of time we will send a mail out to our customers to get them involved.

Dan,

I saw the article and was impressed with the scenery there! Would love to make the trip but I don't think my 71 dually would make the drive.

I agree it is a long trip. I made a trip from Nebraska to Kissimee 3 years ago to pick up my hull. Drove straight thru 25 hours or so only stopping to change drivers and get gas. When we got there we loded the hull onto the trailer and drove another 25 hours back. The guy we got the boat from lived on a lake with an airboat and I didn't even get time to ask for a ride. If I ever get back out there I won't leave till I get a ride. The platte river is a great place to ride. You can go for miles and see nothing or anybody. All (most) of the airboaters out here can be your best friend instantly. If anyone ever gets a chance to make it out I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I just received an e-mail from my Fremont Area Director explaining what the status is of the rodeo. If anyone wants to sponsor an event let us know.

Dan,

The following is an e-mail I sent to Terri at Airboat World but I don't know if it ever made it through to her.

"Terri,

Bad news.. By an over whelming vote at our last annual meeting on Feb 4th, the Neb Airboat Assoc has decided not to sponsor any more airboat rodeo's. They felt that it was to much of liability risk to continue to sponsor such an event. At the moment I do not know if anyone is willing to step forward and promote any future events such as this. If my article has not gone to press yet please add the under line section as a footnote..

Two people did volunteer to put on two poker runs during the upcoming season, times to be announced.. and at this time no there has been no mention of a Columbus run. I would still like to invite anyone up and would be willing to be host to anyone who chooses to do so..

Sincerely
Randy Wheelock

To those that want to come to Nebraska and don't want to bring your boat but would like to see the platte river from a airboat.

Feel free to fly or drive in. We have plenty of Airboaters that would be happy to take you for a couple of days on there own airboat.

I am sure if you would want to drive there boat, they wouldn't mind that either. I wish somebody could drive me around so I could enjoy the view of the platte river.

If you need a place to put your boat in and keep it for a couple of days, we have many areas for you to that to. If you want to park your camper next to your airboat we can provide that to.

We are here to accomodate any airboaters needs.
